Keep your shirt on Contest!
Last time, our Style File Surprising Stores review featured Mark's Work Wearhouse. Well, the friendly folks over at MWW kindly supplied me with one of their latest clothing innovations to try for myself. It's the Perfectly Pressed shirt.
What can possibly be innovative about a shirt? I hear you ask. Drum roll please...this crisp classic does not need ironing! Yes, it's wash, dry and wear! So exciting, because despite all the times I've recommended the plain white shirt as a wardrobe essential, (confession time), I rarely wear one myself. Not because I don't like the look, au contraire, but because I have an ironing allergy. But, now with the Perfectly Pressed added to my closet, I can practice what I preach.
And, if you're skeptical as to whether the Perfectly Pressed lives up to its promise. Don't worry it does. I, the founding member of the anti-ironing squad, can confirm that even after having mine squished in a bag for a few hours, it was ready for action after a short time on a hanger. And, as for the styling...? Don't worry on that score either, the Perfectly Pressed in sizes XS-XL, is also subtly shaped for us ladies.
To date, I've worn mine quite conventionally with jeans or under a business suit. So, here's a little Style File challenge for urbanmoms members. Tell us in the comments section below, the ways in which you love to wear a classic white shirt. Is it tucked into a pencil skirt, under a vest or as a cover up in the sun? We have 12 Perfectly Pressed shirts to give away and the best 12 ways to wear this wardrobe wonder will WIN ONE. So, share your ideas in the comments below (make sure to include your email!) by Friday, November 28th, and we'll make sure the winners receive their Perfectly Pressed prior to the Holiday season.

I keep a long-sleeved white shirt in the car all year round. In the winter it's handy as an extra layer or if the kids smear me with someting; in summer it protects my very fair freckled skin from burning as I drive. Plus it goes with EVERYTHING!

This shirt can be worn at work or out shopping, running errands, etc. Looks great and is versatile - dress it up or down with different shoes.

I think these shirts look great. I would love to win one. You gotta love that easy care.

I love the look of a vest over a white untucked shirt. I think it is classic, and so comfortable. No ironing? Wow, what a bonus!
Posted by: Carolyn | December 01, 2008 at 10:09 PM
I would LOVE to own about 12 of these shirts - never have to iron and save the time I would spend ironing with my hubby? What a god send!

Thses shirts are awsome. I hate to iron!
Posted by: Karyn Westenhaefer | November 29, 2008 at 06:00 PM
It's good to put on after a day of painting in your basic and "covered with paint" rags. Throw on the wrinkle free shirt and a clean pair of jeans and the slob look has vanished. lol
Posted by: Lori | November 29, 2008 at 01:31 AM
Wow! A crisp no iron shirt! What a concept! Bought a Tobi steamer, because, silly me, I actually BELIEVED the commercials... Nothing can beat a crisply ironed shirt (and the steamer doesn't even come close), except a classic-never-needs-ironing shirt. Wear it over a bright coloured, or black (for those not into bright) T shirt, with nice jeans, and stiletto heeled short booties.

With straight leg jeans, pearls, and high heeled boots
Posted by: Alison Malfara | November 28, 2008 at 09:48 PM
I've worn a classic white shirt over my black turtleneck tucked into jeans; and it looks great belted with the collar turned up and rolled 3/4 sleeves over footless black tights. Add pearls and you get casual elegance.

Re: Keep Your Shirt On Contest
A crips white shirt that you don't need to iron is a great asset to anyone's wardrobe. It can be worn casually with jeans, shorts or capris, or dressed up with a good pair of slacks & blazer ,swetaer or vest for the workday. Of course it also goes with skirts. A pretty brooch, scarf or bejewelled belt as accesories and you're good to go out.

This shirt should be worn with classic, dressy pants, preferably black in color.

No ironing? I'll be out of a job. A job I don't need. Thanks.
Posted by: cheryl | November 28, 2008 at 08:58 PM
The shirt would wear well from a classic look with slacks for work then slip on a chic skirt for an evening look to just wearing the shirt to bed after that date!
Posted by: SD | November 28, 2008 at 08:32 PM
A perfectly pressed shirt would look great with casual pants or jeans
Posted by: Laura | November 28, 2008 at 08:11 PM
I hate ironing. I seem to iron in more wrinkles than I smooth out. I do the wrinkle test before buying shorts for my husband and family. I squeeze the material and if it bounces back, I'll buy it. I guess I won't have to do that to these shirts. :)

I love these shirts.:)

I don't mind ironing dress shirts when you have to but not having to would be a big plus and where I have vertigo, standing is difficult and with a tremor in my hands, ironing is a little more challenging. White dress shirts would go with anything and make you look nice and fresh. I would wear it with a pair of capris and a nice bright tank top underneath, with the sleeves cuffed to the elbows and the dress shirt unbuttoned half-way down.

I love to wear a classic long-sleeved white shirt rolled up and tied at the front, with cut-off jeans in the summertime. Makes me feel like a million bucks and is guaranteed to bring wolf-whistles, much to the embarrassment and chagrin of my sons!
Posted by: Mary | November 28, 2008 at 06:29 PM
I pair the perfect crisp white white shirt with a great big belt. Dressed up or down, it's always great for work with dress pants through the week and my favorite jeans on Friday's. The white shirt is always in...it's everything around it that continues to change:)
Posted by: JULES | November 28, 2008 at 04:46 PM
A classic white shirt can be dressed up or dressed down...they never go out of style. If I had a great white shirt that I didn't have to iron, I would wear it both with my dress pants and my jeans with my favorite jewellry.
Posted by: wilma | November 28, 2008 at 02:54 PM
A classic white shirt is a definate wardrobe must-have but to have one that you don't have to iron is a real bonus! A classic white shirt is timeless and goes great with everything from jeans to dressy pants & skirts and also looks great left out under a sweater or vest.
Posted by: Lorelei | November 28, 2008 at 02:52 PM
hmmm, i love it when i get to wear the classic white shirt over-sized, slightly unbuttoned with the sleeves rolled up and with nothing else on... in the bedroom with my boy!
It also looks nice under a shrunken sweater vest though. :)

I have a very active life. I have my 86 year old terminally ill mother living with me full time. I take care of her and take her to all her doctors appointments and chemos. I have found that there are better things to be done instead of ironing. I would love to have one of these shirts.

I love to slip on the classicwrinkle free white shirt just before parent teacher interviews. That way whatever art project, science experiment, lunch or chalk dust that I have been wearing all day with my students, the parents don't see. As well it gives me a little boost of confidence, when meeting parents for the first time and reviewing report cards with them.

You can't go wrong with a white shirt, especially a perfectly pressed one!
Posted by: Dianne L | November 28, 2008 at 07:31 AM
I love to wear a perfectly pressed shirt under a very soft vneck tshirt or sweater, there is such a rainbow of colors available today
Posted by: Joyce | November 28, 2008 at 07:19 AM
I have a few sleeveless dresses but my giggly arms don't look great in them so I wear a light shirt over them. They are still cool in summer and I am not so self conscious because the arms are covered. A no iron shirt like this would be a perfect choice to pack for a trip to a warm destination to escape winter.
Posted by: Dianne | November 28, 2008 at 01:52 AM
either tied up or left down it goes perfect with a long flowing skirt and a simple tank top .
Posted by: chas | November 28, 2008 at 01:48 AM
The way to tell that a white button-up shirt is the perfect and universal piece of clothing is that it looks just as stylish and chic on a beautiful young 18 year-old as it does on an 80 year old!
Posted by: Madelena Pedersen | November 28, 2008 at 12:40 AM
White makes me (and everyone) look fresh and healthy. A button-up shirt looks dressy without being over-the-top. What could be more perfect?

I actually own zero dress shirts being the Mom of 5 I usually just where tees but the pic of the dress shirt looks very nice so I would have to say if I won this shirt I would wear it with some nice jeans as I can honestly say it would not match my track pants LOL
Posted by: Robin Langille | November 27, 2008 at 10:42 PM
Nothing is better than a crisp white shirt. I wear mine with black boot cut pants, high boots, and a wrap thin strap vest with long ties that come to the front and is tied in a bow. It dresses up the white shirt a little. And the contrast of the black and white looks smashing!
Posted by: Shelley van Gelder | November 27, 2008 at 10:23 PM
Love the look, somehow a fresh white shirt can make you feel great. I have gotten away from this classic since having 2 kids back to back. I'll be getting back to the crisp shirt / good jeans & heels. Update it with simple jewelwry and away I go.

I sadly dont have a white shirt in my wardrobe....gotta fix that , they are so versitile. You can go anywhere and do anything and know that you look great in it. Dressed up with a long necklace or dressed down with a tank and jeans you just cant go wrong, and they never go out of style, ageless and priceless.
Posted by: karen | November 27, 2008 at 05:12 PM
I love my husband's white shirt and have worn it so much that the elbows are gone on it. My favourite way to wear it is knotted at the waist with jeans and flipflops. My daughter fights me for it. She loves to wear it as a night shirt. I think I need my own! :)
Posted by: Jane | November 27, 2008 at 04:59 PM
I love a crisp shirt paired with a tshirt underneath and matched with a nice pair of pressed pants or a long skirt. Takes me to work in comfort and style.

I am a bit on the chubby side so I love to wear a white shirt unbuttoned with a tee-shirt underneath. The layers look makes it look like I am a few pounds lighter than I really am.
Posted by: Dianne Wood | November 27, 2008 at 12:54 PM
I love a tailored white shirt paired with some fabulous dark denim, a thick chestnut-brown belt, and some kick-bum brown boots. Add in some fabulous chunky silver jewellry, and you have an outfit!!
Posted by: Melissa | November 27, 2008 at 12:11 PM
I think a classic white shirt can be dressed up or down and the thought of not ironing is extremely appleaing. My husband wears the no-iron pants from Mark's Work Wearhouse and loves them. He mentioned that when he last when in to purchase some pants, there was a business man in front of him at the checkout who purchased 5 pairs or non-iron pants and shirts for his business trip!
Posted by: monika | November 27, 2008 at 11:37 AM
I love wearing a crisp white shirt, with black pants (with heels, natch) and a red belt which just makes the outfit pop. And for jewellry? I wear my sister's creations from her company "Crisp" (which she named because everything goes with a crisp white shirt)!
Posted by: Caroline | November 27, 2008 at 09:46 AM
I have 3 white shirts, they are a wardrobe staple, but a girl can never have too many.
I also have a new black one that I love.
They are so versatile, and there are no limits as to "how to" wear them.
My favourite way is worn untucked over my jeans with a brass hip belt and my "jesus" sandals...so summery.
In winter I wear them tucked in for a more professional look with heels for work.
Of course I do own an iron, but with full time work, belly dance class, painting as a passionate hobby and sitting on 4 different volunteer committees, who the heck has time to iron. I pull mine out of the washer, hang them to dry and hope for the best.
A no iron shirt would be a "God-send"...I'm off to Marks Work Wearhouse irregardless of the contest...I need a new shirt!
Thanks for this contest opportunity.

A no-iron button down shirt is a wonderful thing!
I like to wear a white shirt with dark jeans, black boots and a suede blazer. I would add colour with a nice long scarf, looped at the neck.
Posted by: LoriD | November 27, 2008 at 09:25 AM
Great "emergency" shirt. It goes with anything from business to weekend outfits so is perfect in the morning when your kids have drooled, spat-up, wiped their runny noses, spilled their milk and/or thrown up their eggs all over your original outfit.
Posted by: Nathalie | November 27, 2008 at 09:24 AM
My kids found my iron in the closet a few weeks ago and asked me what it was!! A shirt that doesn't need ironing will look so much better than having to wear the wrinkled ones under sweaters.
Posted by: joyce shane | November 27, 2008 at 09:15 AM
I have an old white shirt (could use a new one..hint ..hint)....
My favorite way to wear it is with a dark vest and really dark denim jeans. Classic and cool and I usually get away with dark demin even though we have a no jeans policy at our office.
Posted by: KATHY | November 27, 2008 at 08:57 AM
Amazingly enough I don't have a white shirt in my wardrobe... WHAT?? Seems like i have been missing out. I guess I need one. :)
Posted by: Chantal | November 27, 2008 at 08:48 AM
I love white shirts, and working in an office environment, mine tend to get used alot. I confess, I also keep a Tide To Go pen in my desk drawer as I tend to often spill things (must have picked up this habit from my kids, LOL). I usually wear mine untucked over slacks with a jacket or without nad have also been known to wear under a sweater (wrinkles you know). I must go to MWW and get me some of these shirts as I seem to have lost my iron's (three of them just disappeared.
Posted by: VioletS | November 27, 2008 at 08:43 AM
I am not a big fan of white, but a white shirt is a classic, and a must in any closet. One that you do not have to iron is extra special. I like to wear one under a vest with a pair of cords or my favorite jeans.
Posted by: Krista Smith-Moroziuk | November 27, 2008 at 08:26 AM
I often wear my classic white shirt with a business suit, paired with a camisole so that I might leave it open at the neck, with just a peek of the lacy camisole underneath.
Posted by: Lori | November 27, 2008 at 07:25 AM
Ahhh the white button down (does that sound oh so eighties)....again a staple must in all wardrobes. We gaze at each other often, but than the thought of the iron hits and the tension is gone!
On occasion the shirt wins, I love to pair it with a fav. fitted sweater and leave it untucked for that crisp/casual look. Roll the sleeves to elbow length, pair with jean and soft slouchy suede flat boots.
But adding a iron free shirt to the mix would grow, grow, grow the wear for sure!!!

I love a white shirt with a blazer and jeans for my take on the classic preppy look. I, too, have an ironing allergy, so this shirt would make the perfect addition to my wardrobe!

I love to wear a classic white shirt with pearls--Oh so Bree!
Posted by: ramona | November 27, 2008 at 01:37 AM
Ooooooo ... the classic white shirt! I love wearing one with a tank underneath along with a great pair of well worn jeans for the 'hip mom look'. For work, I paired the shirt with a pin striped vest and a cute A-line skirt. But I would have to say my favourite white shirt was my maternity one - it accentuated my baby belly perfectly (the only time I was proud to emphasize my belly, lol!)
Posted by: Tania S. | November 27, 2008 at 01:35 AM
I love how a white button-up shirt showcases a a splashy piece of jewellery in the V of the open shirt. Whether I pair the shirt with jeans or a suite, the jewellery is the focus but the whole look is pulled together and looks polished because of the white shirt.
Posted by: Katrine PM | November 27, 2008 at 01:02 AM
In my opinion, a white shirt looks good on everyone, and there is something "spiffy" about a button-up shirt. I love wearing a white shirt under anything from a jean jacket to a formal blazer because it is the perfect subtle statement that is the foundation for the rest of an outfit.
Posted by: AnneMarie | November 27, 2008 at 12:54 AM
I love to wear a perfect white shirt with a black velvet blazer.
Posted by: Rita Jackson | November 26, 2008 at 11:08 PM
I think a classic white shirt, for me, looks best paired with a pair of distressed blue jeans and black boots (with heels of course). I'd wear it untucked with jeans. There's something about the classic-ness (that is SO not a word but it is today) of a sharp white shirt matched with the ruggedness of distressed jeans. Finishing it off with black boots is the only way to do it, no other shoe would match the outfit as well!
Posted by: Feisty Frugal Fabulous | November 26, 2008 at 11:07 PM
I would wear white shirts way more often if I didn't have to iron them. The wrinkles drive me crazy!
Strangely enough, I'm going to wear one tomorrow. I decided to go all Annie Hall, and steal a tie from my Husbands closet. Pair that with wide-leg dress pants and a jacket and I'll look Hollywood AND work-appropriate. If only I hadn't given my favourite black vest away to charity. (I'll be hard pressed not to dig up some Lennon glasses..)
Posted by: No Mother Earth | November 26, 2008 at 11:05 PM
I love a white shirt, and would love this shirt. We're very busy and ironing isn't at the top of my list. It would look great with my favorite brown skirt!

I love the feel of a crisp white shirt when I'm on holiday in the Caribbean. There's something about wearing it open as a cover-up with a white tank top underneath -- perfect for evening breezes on the beach.

After soaking in a nice hot bubble bath at the end of a stressful day, I love to put on a nice oversized shirt and a pair of undies and curl up on the couch and watch a good movie:)

Love to wear mine w/ a short cut jacket and a broach, some slim pants and pointy boots. Good for casual or a night out!
Can't wait to try one of these as I also hate ironing!

The site isn't coming up, I REALLY would like a chance to win and wear one of the no-iron shirts, without the need to iron I would get a lot of use from it as it would be in the closet and not the ironing basket! But to win I have to be able to enter the contest and to do that I need to be able to access the entry form. Darn drat and phooey!

White always looks nice under a suit
Posted by: Chico Dedick | November 26, 2008 at 09:47 PM
My favourite way to wear a crisp white shirt is under my black leather side zip shell (sleevless crew-neck type garment). Combine that with a pop of red from my red rose choker and I feel great! I'm also anti-iron, but my clothes steamer helps me out in a pinch!
Posted by: fashionplanner | November 26, 2008 at 09:44 PM
White shirt? they go with jeans or under a nice sweater or jacket on the days I actually have to go into the office instead of just working from home... LOVE my white shirts, but hate ironing them. I do find that they require less ironing when I take them out of the dryer right away though....
Posted by: karen | November 26, 2008 at 09:35 PM
I only have one white shirt, but I wear it weekly under a black v-neck sweater with the cuffs folded over. It's my go-to outfit, along with dark jeans and boots, whether I'm running late or running errands. It's easy, comfortable, and classic.
Posted by: Kelly W. | November 26, 2008 at 09:29 PM
A white shirt is such a classy look on everybody. I never tuck the shirt in though, and I like to wear a tank/camisole underneath it, so that a few extra buttons can be left open at the top.

What I love about them? They can be worn, no matter what size or shape you are. Small or large, pear or apple-shaped, there's no discrimination done! Even my mommy-to-be's little belly looks cool in one!
I love that it can be worn all week, either dressy or casual. At work, I wear it with black pants and a black jacket; during the weekend, I wear it with bootcut jeans, a leather belt and a nice scarf, or a big necklace. Sometimes I switch the big necklace for my black pearls, just to add a touch of class to the casual look...
A must-have for every closet!

I love a white blouse with a tank top underneath with my jeans and boots, a classic look no matter what. I have also been wearing it with my vests lately and have to admit I like it. You can never go wrong with a classic well cut, well made white shirt!

I always like to wear a nice crisp shirt with a classic black skirt.

I love to wear a crisp white shirt with either a vest, jeans and boots or with a tank underneath and some funky jewellery. Can't wait to take a look at these shirts, I'd love one (or more!) since it would alter my 'sweater' wardrobe for sure!

I love these shirts at the beach, around the time when you've had enough sun, yet they are cool enough to wear and keep out those bugs too.

Such a staple of any wardrobe.....

I normally "don't do" white as it completely washes out my complexion, but under a v-neck sweater dressed up or down, a nice crisp white collar adds a touch of class. I also "don't do" ironing whenever possible so these would be absolutely perfect ! I would love to be able to wear one of these shirts in the summer (because of a health condition I have to wear long sleeves when out in the sun), so hopefully the "Perfectly Pressed" shirt prize can be selected in a different colour ?

These shirts are perfect, as I was involved in a film shoot where I had to look respectable and it worked great with the wardrobe that was supplied, they are very comfortable and look and feel great, plus they do go well with a black motorcycle jacket and a black t-shirt for that cool look!

To be honest I don't think I have ever had one. WHAT have I been wearing????

I think a great white shirt takes you from breakfast right through until a movie or a late night dinner and drinks. Change the accesories throughout the day and it's transformed without much fuss.
Stylish ladies always own a great white shirt. Seems everyone can now afford one. No excuses not to look like you've spent a fortune and hours on your look, when in reality you didn't iron it and it was a bargain !!
Now that's a every womans dream.

A white perfectly-pressed shirt is an absolute necessity for the office. Pair it with any suit and you're ready to go.

I love to wear my white crisp shirt as a cover up in the sun but when I need to be dressy and classy I will tuck it in or let it hang with a nice necklace.

I like a colored version, nicely fitted with a white ribbed tank underneath and the shirt with the sleeves unbuttoned, layered with several necklaces to make a built-up look, and really dark straight jeans with black boots. Mark's has some really nice boots this season too!

My favorite way to wear a crisp, tailored shirt is with a favorite pair of dark trouser jeans, a great pair of boots and a fabulous handknit scarf. Comfortable, casual and ALWAYS stylish, the crisp white shirt is a wardrobe must-have!

A classic crisp white shirt is one of those solid wardrobe pieces that never goes out of style! Perfect with a blazer or cardigan and dress pants for work or a nice pair of jeans and a vest for a movie night. Lately my white shirt is sitting in the basket full of ironing! Each night I go to bed hopeful that someone will come and snatch it away and return it to my closet where I will find it there hanging neatly pressed! (hey, we all have dreams!)

Have a closet full of Ann Taylor ones that rarely come out now...wrinkle city!! I hate irons. I hate them so much that when I last used one my ten year old saw me and said "What is that????" He had never ever witnessed me using it in ten years!!!

There is nothing that looks quite as good with my jeans and capris as the fresh, clean lines a fine-tailored shirt. No matter the color (tho' I am partial to white) the look is exactly what I wish to project ESPECIALLY when it is so easy care for.

The classic styling lends itself to multiple wearings in any season, over a lifetime, if it is cared for, worn and cherished. One incarnation is chic casual, with multiple layerings, consisting of colorful scarves around the neck and belted, with a favorite tee underneath, and topped with an unlined jacket, choice of pants, and cowboy boots.

I actually like a white shirt with a simple crew-neck sweater. Quite likely I'm outdated, but I love the pointy collar over the edges of the neckline and I sometimes leave it untucked with the hem showing a little. I like it with jeans, pants or skirts.

I love to wear a button down shirt underneath an argyle vest with jeans for a classic but casual look.

I haven't worn a crisp white shirt in years because it will just get stained when I'm with the kids! However... now that they are older (and I'm wearing earrings again and not always tying my hair back either...) I will imagine that I would wear it under a nice velvet vest with holiday trim and a long black skirt - just right for holiday parties! Which, coincidentally, I haven't attended in years either... Hmmm....

I love to wear a very fitted shirt with colourful snug vests. I am short waisted and it looks so cute with just the edges peaking out from the bottom. I layer on a chunky colourful long jewelled necklace and it looks nice enough for coffee to drinks. Works with jeans or black pants. The vest makes it easy to add colour for those of us colour shy.
cheers

I love to wear a crisp white shirt with my red pashmina from Nepal. Put together with dark jeans and good pair of boots. It is one of my favorite and easy outfits.
