Maurice Sendak died today of complications from a stroke. He was 83. I cannot imagine my childhood without the bizarreness of In The Night Kitchen or the comfort of my children's childhood without an episode of Little Bear.
And then of course, there is the perennial favourite, Where The Wild Things Are.
Thank you Mr. Sendak for your creativity, imagination and above all, your books.
I loved them all as a child, of course, and now my children love them all... I'm heartbroken at this news. But, it was a good life, I think. There's a link of him musing on life and death... brilliant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U68bZbMM7q8&feature=player_embedded
