Do you remember the story of the woman in what for her and him was a good and settled marriage, who found one day that her husband was having an affair and it so sideswiped her that she went into shock, then hibernation for a undetermined period? When she came out slowly she met a lovely man at a dinner - later to be referred to as Mr Shovel, who in the midst of the snowstorm went to her home the next day with a shovel as the kind gentleman that he is, to shovel the snow off her car. (Oh yes do read the whole story!)

She began a friendship  with him, which turned into a love story.

But wait for the twist.

With her marriage over and the confidence of her new life and ability to love again she has taken a job in Switzerland  as a nurse in a private school. She is going not because it is over with Mr Shovel and not because he is leaving with her but because she can.

She admits she never would have done this if she was married and in her words " would have been very content to continue my life as it was."  Why would she quit her very secure job, leave her children (now grown and out of the house but still a very big part of her life), friends to go on an adventure?

She went on to tell me that it was only "when I decided to give up what I thought was right for me and truly let go of the sadness in the past, did things come together for me. I have read many books about "letting go" of the things that have hurt us and focus on present circumstances-quite frankly I thought this was a bunch of made up feel good nonsense. But it was only when I stopped holding on and gave up feeling rotten, opened up my mind and heart, did things really start to happen for me"

No one understand this magic more than me.

Mr Shovel understands and is supportive. They both know that this adventure will either make or break them as a couple. After all winter will come and so will snow and the need for a good shovel.

Stay tuned..........
