we cranked the music and cleaned the cottage and then went for a long swim with no one asking for piggy back rides. Then we hung out on the dock and laughed and chatted for hours.
Because we could.
I turned to my niece and daughter who both worked tirelessly the past week with me and said
"Now we swear and drink and run around with no clothes and eat licorice for dinner because we can!"
Oh yeah. They are only 15. Damn.
Of many of the things I want to teach my children- the great pleasure of hard work is one of them. And the sweetness that follows. It has occurred to me that it is a lesson from my dad.
Love this feeling. I live for this feeling.
