I was at a lunch today and we were talking about the bias we all bring into situations There are hardwired biases that we don't even know exist in ourselves and they pop in unannounced and without warning. They may be subtle or glaring but they are part of us.
Without thinking I said " I am most judgemental when I am least happy with myself." I hear it and know it is there a little BUT I am more aware of how beautifully forgiving and open I can be when I am happy with myself. If the opposite is right than the opposite is true.
I don't want to get old and gossipy or cruel or narrow. When you don't live with another adult you have to especially watch this (although one might argue that couples can bring out the worst in each other as much as many can bring out the best as well).
All of this points to just another reason why we should take the best care of all sides of ourselves so that we can see the world through the lens of a solid self. Because how we see ourselves is how we see the world. And how we see the world is how the world will be to us.
