in 2004, the Oscar-winning 44-year-old actress, wrote herself a memoir chronicling her recovery from drug addiction, and now, she was busted for buying crack. initially, she told the police she was researching a role, but then quickly changed her story.
O'Neal is feeling grateful for all of this, saying, "I'm still sober! Just when I was about to change that and wreck my life, the cops came and saved me! I was saved by the bell, by the guys in the Seventh Precinct."
She will return to court on July 28th to face a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.
