Welcome Back!
I'm sure I had a nice post prepared for today...I did lose 1.2 pounds last week (mind you, I was just taking off what I had put on the week before, but more on my plateau later) and I had a great time trying on new ski gear - can I just say that a SIZE SIX ski jacket fit me!?!! But before I get into any of that, I wanted to take a moment to publicly congratulate a dear friend for her decision to return to her weight loss regimen. YAY! Let me explain: this is the woman who,... More »

A Letter to My Body
Week: 22Pounds Lost: 38.2 Dear Body: Let me open by thanking you for being there for me for the last 37 years and counting. No matter what abuses I've subjected you to (and there have been many!) you've been there for me; stalwart, strong, sound. I've climbed trees, jumped gaps, fallen off bikes, skis, toboggans, wagons, swings...and yet your bones remain whole and hale. I've bumped, bashed and bonked you, yet the bruises always fade. The More Things Change...
Week: 21Pounds Lost: 39.6 (gratuitous Banff Hostel image to keep your eyeballs entertained...) Well congratulate me! I did it! I honoured my commitment to myself, kicked up my workout intensity and frequency and achieved my goal: to lose at least 2 pounds in week 20. I weighed in on Saturday with a 2.4 pound loss, and I'm going to press myself for another 2 pounds this week. They say it takes 21 days to form a habit, so I'm going to promise myself to do 3 workouts per week for the next 3 weeks, and I'm going to set the... More »

Week: 20Pounds Lost: 38.5 Welcome back, dear reader, to the adventures of Kath, the erstwhile weight-loss-wonder. Unfortunately for her, our heroine finds herself stalled in her steady journey of weight loss. Why, you ask, has her steady progress to date slowed to a near standstill? Ah...read on and you will find out! Since we don't have any family in town, my husband and I decided to take our kids to Banff for the Thanksgiving weekend - more exciting than staying home and trying to figure out what to do with all the turkey leftovers! First, of course, we attended our... More »
Taking Stock, Setting Goals, Giving Thanks
Week: 19 Pounds Lost: 38 It must be the time of year, but I find myself focusing inwards, becoming reflective, introspective; mindful. Perhaps it's just that autumn has always meant the beginning of the school year for me, so I'm in the habit of dusting off the old noggin' and stretching the neurons when the leaves fall. Or maybe it's something deeper. Fall is a time of harvests - of collecting the fruits of one's summer labour and taking stock of stores before winter hits. We prepare to hunker down and pass the time in winter, so that we... More »
