My youngest and I went out for a special date this afternoon, because her older sister had the rare, spring break treat of having a friend over for a sleepover last night, and little sister was most definitely NOT included in the fun. Now the bigger girls were pretty tolerant, but it was still a devastatingly sad blow for my five year-old to not be able to sleep in the guest bedroom with the big girls.
So to console her, I told her I'd take her out today to get her nails done; a special mother-daughter treat that we indulge in once or twice a year.

It was a perfect afternoon. Until the part where I had to walk back to the car through the snow wearing only the little foam pedi flip-flops. Carrying my 40 pound daughter! Brrrr...
What a nice treat for both of you. It's such a treat to be able to enjoy one-on-one time with your kids, isn't it? (and I hear you on the flip flop front...I looked pretty ridiculous at the schoolyard for pick up two Fridays ago with my painted bare toes and parka).
She looks SO thrilled! Great idea. Sometimes it is tough for the little one when they can't do what their big sister or brother is doing. This should help.
