My Urban Moms Good Bye Post
This is my last Mom Inc. post for Urban Moms.  I have been writing here for nearly a year but I must say goodbye for now. It has been a terrific experience for me as I have connected with many moms through this site who have shared their wisdom with me. I also got to meet  fellow UM Writers whom I now call friends.  Being apart of  Urban Moms opened a lot of new doors for me in every sense. When I started the Mom Inc  blog I wanted to write about what it was like to start a business while juggling motherhood - I wanted it to... Why WAHM (Work At Home Moms) Could Get a Bad Rap
I had the pleasure of having Scott Stratten of UnMarketing present to my Mom Entrepreneurs` Network on Tuesday. One of the topics he discussed was how WAHM (Work At Home Moms) may be risking their image by working at home while  their kids are home at the same time. This really made me reflect on my own life. For the last year I have been struggling to manage raising kids and starting my own company with limited daycare. First I started with no daycare at all - I mean how hard could it be? After staying up all night and burning the... More »
Stuff for Dads - UnMarketing Has Some Cool Finds for Dads
I came across a vlog from Scott Stratten of UnMarketing on some cool stuff for daddies. Thought it was kinda cool since we have Daddy Bloggers and because the holiday season is  coming up and dads may want some cool gear. Here it is: ... More »
Days Away from Change - Reflections of Motherhood Video
When I became a mom for the first time six years ago my world was turned upside down. I was a very anxious mom to be - I worried about breast feeding, I worried about sleep. I worried, worried and worried some more until I woke up with a baby in my arms and my tummy cut open by emergency c-section.I couldn't sleep in the hospital and I couldn't sleep when I got home. I begged to stay in hospital but my husband said I would be okay. I had my first panic attack when I was in my bed with... More »
One of the biggest challenges of being a mom entrepreneur is the serious lack of free time. Even though I am at home all day with my family I find doing meaningful mommy stuff really hard now that I have two kids. I have more laundry, more responsibilities and a new business that seemed to be taking over my life, but, I am trying really hard to find the time for me and my family. It ain't easy. I know that we can't shield our children from learning that Facebook and Twitter exist. How can my children not know that  they exist... More »
My Bliss at Blissdom (Lessons Learned).
This year I had the amazing opportunity to be on the Women's Entrepreneur Panel at the first ever  Canadian Women's Social Media Conference. Blissdom Canada was a crazy, exhausting, emotional, funny and insightful roller coaster ride. I met amazing women all across Canada who like myself had a stressful journey to arrive on the door steps of Delta Chelsea (passing striking workers too!). Many attendees are mompreneurs who work from home. Entrusting our husbands to do the daily school routines and keep the household running seemed  to be a slightly scary concept.... but necessary in order to have a life.  Eric ,... More »
Travelling Hubby -
So there is this cool tool called Skype - have you heard of it? (and no I am not getting paid to endorse Skype). Lately I have been using "Skype" to chat with clients (did I mention it is free?) and most importantly  to talk to my husband Rob while he travels.  Rob has been away a lot in the last few weeks and our way to stay connected has been via Skype. My five year old loves it. "Let's Skype Daddy" , "Is it time to Skype Daddy?", "Is it too late to Skype daddy where he is (universal world clock... More »

Let's Play the What If Game

Let's Play the What If Game
This is "me" picturing "me" as Wonder Woman. I remember as a little girl how special I felt wearing the "Wonder Woman bathing suit". I felt like I was the coolest cat around. Those super "powerful feeling" days were few and far between while I was growing up. I was one of the "What If Girls" Thinking everything was always going to go wrong (sometimes it seemed like it was true). Let me explain. One of the funniest conversations to over hear between a child and a parent is the "What if Game". One time I was listening to a conversation between... More »
Top Five Reasons I Feel Like Mr. Mom (Really)
If  you have seen Mr. Mom you certainly feel sorry for the schmuck. The poor guy is really trying but it is not easy being a stay at home dad when you are not seasoned veteran or prepared. That is how I have started to feel lately except I am a mom. Let me explain. (Enjoy the clip while you scroll!)      I am going to do this in David Letterman style. However,I  am too tired to get to ten so here it goes: Number 5: I lost my nanny (because she was nuts), left my corporate job suddenly (well I am on... More »
My Laptop Listens: Grade 1 & Loose Teeth. (Win a Laptop too!)
My son started grade one last week. I don't know who was more nervous about it... him or me. My little man (okay not so little anymore) started telling me that he didn't want to go to grade one a few months before he finished Senior Kindergarten. He told me he didn't want homework or tests. Who can blame him...kindergarten rules. Sandbox, water table. Fun stuff. We talked about it on and off over the holidays and then proceeded to take a vacation to Nova Scotia the week before he went to school. Then came home the day before he started school.Needless to say... More »
