Mom Without a Map

I thought we should finger paint

I thought it would be fun for The Boy to experiment with some finger painting.  OK, no, that's not quite the truth.  I was feeling sick as dog, home alone for multiple days with The Boy, and too tired to keep playing cars and lego.  So I threw him in the bathtub, gave him a canvas and some finger paints and let him have at it.

You know what? It was messy. Duh.  But it was messy fun. It was the best 40 minutes ( READ THAT AGAIN MOMS OF REALLY ACTIVE TODDLERS!!! He was in there for FOURTY MINUTES painting!!!)
I sat on the floor of the bathroom, watching him discover and paint and enjoy and just have fun.  It was really great.  And even in my gottakeepmyhousespotlessbecauseitsgoingonthemarket&Iwantittosell mindset, I was able to have fun because the best thing about these finger paints? They were 100% washable.  My kind of fun!
Strip 'em down, throw 'em in the tub, and wash 'em off.

I'm so getting me some of these washable finger paints - you are SO SMART!
Fourty minutes? glorious!

Ya, it really was great- and, I mean, I just showered him off afterward. Which he loved almost as much as the finger painting. Cheap too- I think the finger paints cost about $5 (crayola, washable).

Great idea!!
We used to let them "paint" with pudding. Fun and tasty!!
