Superheroes do wear glasses

So, another parenting lesson - don't stress until given real reason to stress. You remember my worries about my 5 year old daughter needing glasses? Well, we're 3 days in and so far so wow! She has been extremely responsible (as far as a 5 year old can be) and totally OK about wearing them. Now, we have yet to conquer school but I am thinking this may not be such a tough transition after all.

We went to the mall on Friday, had a special mom/daughter lunch, picked out two pairs of really cute glasses and while we waited we SHOPPED 'TIL WE DROPPED. We must have gone in every store. And she was SO good. Plus, suddenly the whole superhero-needs-glasses-to-be-extra-super thing didn't seem so far fetched to her. She put them on and took a look in the mirror. She instantly broke into a super pose and, well, a spectacle wearing Superhero was born! Phew.

Wanna see? Check out how cute!

oh - she looks so cute! they have such amazing glasses now (compared to the large pink translucent frames i wore at her age - with bifocals mind you) that i'm sure it's not only going to be the ultimate superhero accessory but quite the fashion statement too.

Little kids with glasses are ADORABLE.
She's a cutie!

I can identify, my daughter had to get glasses in the fall of 2007 and finding frames in pink helped the cause! Whew! Our only hurdle was sports and especially hockey since her delicate frames didn't work so well with a helmet...solution? Contacts!! Believe it or not, she has conquered them and is better at putting them in and taking care of them than my 67 year old mother was! Kids amaze me every day and I know that your daughter does too!

so cute, Jen! i love them!

Hey Jen,
Your duaghter looks cute in the glasses. This past July Gavin, at the time almost 4, was diagnosed as 'severly far sighted.' In shock I picked out glasses right in the doctors office. He was a little hessitant in wearing them, but once he realised that he can actually read he swung right into the idea, problem is we have broken them three times since then. Such the life of an active 4 year old boy, the youngest of three boys, or four if you include his dad.

She looks so good, my daughter who is 4 1/2 just got glasses for a lazy eye and I had the same worries as you but soon found out it was OKAY. She loves them and looks adorable too. Thanks for the great post

And what an adorable little superhero she is!

I do that too - stress before there is a good reason to.

She looks absolutely adorable. Another great life lesson, brought to us by our kids. Who are we kidding when we say we need to teach them about life? Seems to me that they've got it all figured out, and it's we adults who need to learn.
