Body and Soul CONTEST!
This is something I am REALLY excited about. It is a first and I am going to be a part of it! Let me share my glee with you. Dove, one of my absolute favourite brands that I have tons of respect for, has done something totally unique - they have commissioned a play. Yup, this play on beauty and aging called Body & Soul was created by award-winning playwright Judith Thompson along with 13 real women who also star in the production. The play is taking a different look at a woman's aging body and hopes to ultimately... More »

When your husband looks hot ;)
My husband often reads my blog but, I've got to admit, I hope this is one post he misses. Not because I am going to vent my frustrations or say something nasty. In fact, the complete opposite...but the truth is, he would be mortified. For those of you who don't know him, my hubby is a pretty quiet and private guy. To draw attention to him in a public forum under any circumstances would be embarrassing - this is the same dude who wanted to be married but didn't want to have the wedding because people would be looking at... When someone else says it best

When someone else says it best
Often when I am writing a card for a special occasion or sending a note to express some emotional point I find what I want to say has already been said. Usually it has been said by someone far more profound and well known than I'll ever be. Sometimes, though, someone, just an average person like you and me, says something that I find really profound or relevant. Here are a few quotes, sayings, or comments that resonate with me: 1. "Fair does not mean equal". I LOVE this. It was said by a fellow mom to one of... More »
A Book For Kids on Plastic Surgery - Is it just me??
A new book aimed at 4-7 year olds just came out called "My Beautiful Mommy". It chronicles a little girl's visit to the plastic surgeon with her mother for a consultation, their discussions of how mommy will soon be "prettier", an explanation of where the bandages will be and then an illustration of the final results. Am I the only one screaming "WTF?!" at the top of my lungs?? I actually felt physically ill. Not at the fact that the mom wants a tummy tuck, boob job and a nose job but at the fact that there is a book... More »

I Can Always Use a Good Cry

I am a total sucker for a good tear-jerker. Sometimes I even rent a movie specifically because I need to have a good cry and let off some emotional steam...very therapeutic. So when my sis who lives in the U.K. sent me this I knew it was a keeper. Yup, I'll hang on to it for those times when I need just a little something to help open the flood gates. I have watched it 3 times and have yet to get beyond the first 2 minutes without crying...ahhhh, I feel so refreshed. Check it out and let me know... More »
Marketing and Social Media - Can they coexist?
So I'm putting on my marketing hat now because I feel the need to make a point. I keep reading about how marketers and brands need to get into online communities. How companies that aren't participating or creating social networks are missing out. How this is the future! Of course, I couldn't agree more. However, I don't think it is as simple as that and I know that many brands and organizations are struggling to figure this one out. When people talk about social media inevitably the first example they give is Facebook. Want to talk about brands failing... More »
When a field of flowers looks like Starbucks
We are urban dwellers. We live in a typical Toronto neighbourhood. We are near the subway, near the high street, and our house is very close to our neighbours. We share a driveway and have a postage stamp backyard. My kids spend far more time at the school playground or park then in their backyard. There are speed bumps on our street to slow down the harried drivers rushing to the Starbucks at the corner. My kids are city slickers and their world is defined by what they know. This has never been more clear to me than tonight.... More »

My iMac Crush
Look at her! Ain't she GORGEOUS?! Obviously I am not talking about the HIDEOUS picture of me but of my beautiful new iMac. Ahhh...life is good. I learned while investigating new office computers that, often, the best option for a small business is an iMac. Many say if your next desk top isn't a Mac, you are a fool. Well, I ain't no fool and this thing is SO cool! Check out our IT support person, Megan, getting it all set up: Now here we are enjoying a celebratory glass of wine after a full day of new computer, new... More »
