Mom's The Word

Lessons from the Mother of the Year
To my 5 year old daughter one's age is a direct reflection of their status. Height helps but age is key. In her camp group she knew everyone's age to the 1/2 or 3/4 year but could only identify one or two of the group by name. This weekend I had some insight into exactly why this is so important in her world. We were lucky enough to be invited up for a few days to a friend's cottage in advance of my son staying with them for the week. The group of kids consisted of my 9 year... More »

This is a bit of an experiment and to be honest with you I'm a bit weirded out by it. Since when do I have a lisp like Kath? Since when is my hair fuzzy instead of curly? Since when are my lips totally non-existent? OK. I already knew that but now so does the world. Anyway, the purpose of the Mom's the Word video podcast is to a) try out some new technology b) put a face to urbanmoms.ca and c) to get you guys contributing. So please, be kind. McDonald's Moms' Quality Program - Selecting the Moms
As most of you know, urbanmoms.ca is McDonald's official Mom Media for their innovative Moms' Quality Correspondents program in Canada. I recently attended the first meeting at McDonald's head office in Toronto to sit in on a meeting with the McDonald's team where they were sifting through the hundreds of mom applicants from... On this particular evening Cassie was up for a party. However, truth be told, the kid needed some sleep. By the time she would normally be sleeping she was putting up a bit of a fuss and... More »

My Top 5 - Paris
Yup, lucky me! I just got back from 10 days in London and Paris. I had been to London before (my "little" sis lives there) but never Paris. And, it was just me and my hubby. Jealous yet? Don't blame you. It was amazing. It was my gift to him for a very special birthday. Gotta love those gifts where you get to enjoy the benefits too. Anyway, I decided to start things off with my Top 5 things about my now favourite city in the world - Paris. Here goes: 1. The City. Paris is alive! It is so... More »
