Mom's The Word

It's The Little Things Getaway Contest!

A few weeks ago my family and I decided to take a break. Not a vacation really, but a little getaway. We definitely needed some time just the four of us. Here were our collective criteria for this family getaway:

  1. Out of the city.DSC02772.JPG
  2. Close enough to drive.
  3. A pool. Preferably a waterpark.
  4. A beach.
  5. Good food.
  6. Starbucks. (OK, that one is only mine but it is VERY important!)
So, anyone who knows anything about Toronto and surrounding area knows that the #1, and possibly the only, destination that meets all of this criteria is Blue Mountain Resort near Collingwood, Ontario. And considering we were working with Blue Mountain already we thought it was a good time to bring the family. We had stayed at Blue last year when my sister got married but had been so busy we hadn't been able to check anything out. I had visited again with all of the UrbanMoms bloggers earlier this summer but I had never stayed at Blue solely to enjoy time with my family. I was really looking forward to just relaxing and hanging out together.

And that is exactly what we did. Sometimes you realize that it is the little things that make the biggest difference. We just enjoyed being together. Nothing outrageous. No big crowds of family and friends. Just us. It was fabulous.

Here is what we did:

SeasonsatBlue.JPG
1. Checked into our room. The kids LOVED the loft bedroom and we had breakfast and lunch here because of the full kitchen.

P1010707.JPG2. Hit the Pool and...

IMG_0290.JPG...played at Plunge! Aquatic Centre and...

P1010740.JPG..."relaxed" at Blue Mountain's private beach.

P1010711.JPG3. Sipped a drink while eating dinner on the fabulous patio at Firehall Pizza.

IMG_0294.JPG4. (Over)indulged in Beaver Tails.

IMG_0296.JPG5. Cheered on kids scaling rocks.

And much, much more. There is SO much to do at Blue! Plus, right now they have a fabulous summer offer - stay longer and save up to 40%! Thinking of a few days away? Check it out. Or, even better, enter to win TWO NIGHTS at Blue Mountain resort and enjoy all of the things we did! All you have to do is tell me in the comments section below about the little things that mean so much in your life. Good luck!

Some parts of this trip were subsidized by Blue Mountain but most of it was paid for by Jen personally.

The contest closes on August 26, 2010.

That is easy the little things that mean the most to me are my little ones Jake and Jesse. Followed closely by Books and Booze when the little ones are asleep : )
Blue Mountain is awesome -- nice and close and fun in winter and summer. Oh yeah, btw -- thanks -- now I want a Beaver tail real bad

Wow what a fabulous place for a vacay! I'm a couple of hours away from Toronto but it looks like it is worth the drive. The two most important things for me in my life..just 2? My kids and my hubby. (but I have to throw in my health too...I'm thankful every day that my children are healthy and strong)

Thanks!

My 3 monkeys, my husband , 2dogs, 1cat and my extended family are the most important things in my life. Their physical, mental and emotional health are the most important aspects of my actions each day...Looks beautiful and a wonderful spot to visit.

The little things that mean so much in my life??? Hmmmm, where to begin? The absolute best "little" thing is my 5-year old son - who, by the way, is not so "little" anymore! The other little things that mean so much are - having a roof over our heads, food to eat, family, friends & faith! Actually, they're not so little, are they? Anyhow, thanks for the tip on the Blue Mountain Resort. It's nice to have such great places to go to in our own province!!!

Funny, how I just came across this article/contest, as I was literally just writing down simple pleasures in my life.
So where to begin, and with only 2 - Let's take the ultimate 2 in my Life!

The first - Is staying positive. In any situation, good or bad - I try to stay focused on a positive reasoning why this "situation" may have happened, and I focus on having a positive outcome of the situation.
Since steering my focus on positivity - It has changed my World completely! Situations have changed from bad, to good almost miraculously!

The 2nd simple pleasure I have in my life, is a fresh cup of coffee. This can be from the coffee shop, or just from home. But as long as it is perfectly made.. I take a huge joy in that.
The best feeling in the World, is when I wake up refreshed, and grab that first cup of coffee. I absolutely love when it is early, early morning - the birds are out chirping, and it's just such a beautiful day that I can sit outside on the porch with a good book, my fresh cup of delicious coffee and just enjoy the beautiful weather and surroundings. To top it off - I love picking up a book that is happy. I try to stray away from the newspaper first thing, as I love my first thoughts of the day to be happy ones :)

Blue Mountain looks like a great spot for a weekend getaway. I always think of it as just a place to ski for the day.

My daughter is obviously the most important thing in my life. For the simple pleasures, it is the most moments when I get a chance to sit back & watch her having a wonderful time. Then I know the hard work is all worth it. Of course, the longer that I get to sit back & watch, the better... ;)

Of course my kids, but we can't forget chocolate! That's my simple pleasure. The ultimate day would be watching my kids play in a water park while I munch away on chocolate......mmmmmm.

The little things for me are when my son and I go on a picnic. We like to pack up sandwiches and fruit and head on over to one of our favourite parks. Our most favourite place to go is a park right on Lake Ontario that lets us enjoy all of what Mother Nature has to offer. Sun, sand and shade all in one spot. This weekly get away helps to rejuvenate the soul and get ready for the upcoming week. It is also great for those on a low budget to make a day outing affordable. As I am just getting back to work now excursions are not really affordable. I have been to Blue Mountain many years ago and as beautiful as it was then I have heard that they really have changed things up for the better. We would sure enjoy a mini vacation and I can see my son wanting to climb the rock wall!!

How I want your life! At least for one weekend at Blue Mountain! LOL.
Okay..the little things that mean so much to me..the main thing..is my husband coming home after a long day's work and just wanting to spend time with me and the boys. He always wants to know how my day was and wants to do things as a family, together. And in the mornings when he goes off to work I say "have a good day at work" and he replies "have a good day doing mommy stuff".

The little things for me are when we all sit at the table and have dinner together, just talking about our day. We are all so busy with juggling all those balls in the air, that it's nice to try and find time where we can just sit, and enjoy each others company.

2 Little things would be hugs and kisses from your children! It seems that they grow up sooo fast and then they say that they are too old for that anymore :(

I've been wanting to go here with the family for ages. Looks like a fabulous vacation, hope we can go sometime.

One of the simplest joys is when one of my boys comments that he likes my hair or my hair or that I look beautiful.

My simple pleasures are hugs from my children, a great mystery novel, and coffee and the newspapers in bed brought to me by my husband!

The simple pleasure for me is when I hear my kids or other kids laugh and giggle, not the typical laughs, but the deep belly laugh when they find something so funny. It is the purest sound in the world, and gives joy to all who hear it. Another simple pleasure is that moment when you get all the kids in their carseats and before you get in the van you take a deep breath and enjoy the quiet and containment of the kids for a quick minute!

Random hugs from my kids - those are so nice!!

What a wonderful spot for children in the summer. It is also close to Wasaga Beach so the kids can have a beach experience as well.

Little things for me are my family, sunshine, a rainbow after the rain, a soak in a tub, pot luck dinners with family, time to read a good book, baking cookies, hugs from the kids, relaxing by the water, playing with my 3 dogs and much more!

The best thing is my little guy snuggling up to me and saying,"Mommy,I love you." It doesn't get better than that....Simple.

When my kids smile or a cup of coffee.

The little things that means a lot in my life are spending time with my husband and my daughter. That's the best part of my day and when it comes down to it, the core of my life. I love simple activities that we can do together as a family such as bicycling, boating and just eating a family meal at a restaurant after a wonderful long weekend. It doesn't have to be expensive, it's the fact that we spent the time together that counts. I hope that one day our daughter has fond memories of her childhood and remembers those simple yet important moments.

The little thing I enjoy most is a cuddle with my man!

The little thing (which is my big thing) is seeing my 6 yr old daughter saying good morning to me with the biggest smile on her face. That makes my day, everyday!

Quiet times with the family means a lot; just being together all at the same time!

The little things that mean the most: are big: health, family, security.

Spending quiet quality times with the family is great for all. Blue Mountain is certainly the way to relax!!

Watching my son giggle and laugh (he's 9 months old); going for hikes with our dog; relaxing with a nice glass of good wine; reading in the sun; having a long, hot shower; experiencing new, fun places (even by mistake sometimes); and just being with my spouse. We are relatively close to Blue Mountain and absolutely LOVE it. It would be a dream to win this contest - especially as new (and stressed) parents. It is a hidden gem in Ontario - with so much to do and see there. Looking at your photos just remind us of how wonderful it is to live in Canada!!!

The little things that make me smile are

holding my kids hands, cuddling, saying how much I love them and appreciate how lucky I am that God chose me to be their mommy!

What a great holiday. I've been looking for a getaway this summer. The little things I enjoy are weekday afternoons matinees and an ice cold bottle of coke.

I remember vacationing in Blue Mountain when I was young!! Fabulous place! My family is what I cherish most in the world!! I try to spend as much time with them as possible!! Our memories are the treasures we'll love in the future

Some of the little things that mean so much in my life are family vacations, a good book and making people smile.

My health - I definitely take this for granted even though I really shouldn't!!

Some of the little things that mean the most are spending time with my husband and children. Enjoying my health. Everything means more as you get older and appreciate things more.

Great holiday!

Watching the kids learn or discover something new.

This is very timely for me because I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about the little things that are important to me. They are gardening, good food, music that moves me, a good book, time alone with my husband (winning this contest would help in this department) and watching my son grow. It's pretty simple, really.

The most important things in my life - my daughter, husband, parents and siblings. Their happiness and health. And, oh by the way "Urban Moms" too!!

Hands down...LOVE and LAUGHS. My 3 kids, foster service dog and husband provide lots of both. And, we LOVE Blue Mountain in the winter and the summer. Thanks for considering our family.

Family and friends what could be more special than that. How U choose to spend time with them varies from family too family.
For my family we like to be in each others company-laughing and talking.

My wonderful 3 year old son Charlie, my husband of almost 8 years Bill, my health, my job and the fact that I live in Canada.

Judy

Recently we took our grandaughter to the lake for fish & chips & an evening swim we had the best time !

This is very timely for me because I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about the little things that are important to me. They are gardening, good food, music that moves me, a good book, time alone with my husband (winning this contest would help in this department) and watching my son grow. It's pretty simple, really.

The little things for me are knowing that I am doing the right things when it comes to parenting... even after a day of teasing and arguing with each other, my son still only wants my daughter to read him his bedrime story.... there is nothing I love more that all being snuggled together and listening to them giggle and enjoy the moment...

Blue Mountain resort looks beautiful. It proves that you don't have to travel far to find a little bit of paradise!

Little things I appreciate? I get the best of both worlds...

I'm a teacher and parent, so I experience the rewards of learning and watching my students grow. Then I also go home to two beautiful children of my own ( 8 and 5.) During the school year I'm incredibly busy, but it also extremely fulfilling.

In the summer, I can slow down my pace a bit. I get the joys of being a stay at home mom where I can focus all my attention on being with my family.

Blue Mountain resort sounds like a wonderful place to kick back, relax and have some fun!

The "little" things that mean so much in my life are health and family. Without either of these, you don't really have much. I've never thought of Blue Mountain as a summer resort - it's beautiful!!

My favourite vacations are when it is just the 4 of us. It gives my girls a chance to become friends and I enjoy the relaxed nature of coming and going as we please.

My family means the world to me!! I feel so blessed to have such amazing love and support from my wonderful parents and in-laws! When my daughter was diagnosed with a very rare disease a few years back and we spent much time at Sick Kids which is a second home to us unfortunately they picked up all the pieces and continue to do so when she is not well. I feel grateful and fortunate and I count my blessings everyday!!!

To me spending any time with my two teens is special to me. Both of my girls are dealing with mental health issues and depression. They are very precious and even if it is just going to the mall, going for a walk or even getting a haircut, it means that they are getting out of their rooms and spending some family time together. We also enjoy baking or letting them choose and make the dinner for the night.

To win this would be fantastic as a whole weekend just letting them enjoy themselves would be something that would definately lift their spirits and possibly remind them of a happier time in their lives.

It may seem cliche, but it's exactly the little things that are most fondly remenbered. An extra hug, that kind smile I receive from my daughters that lets me know they are content. Living in the moment, grabbing the moment and not worrying about having to do all the things that have to be done. Being together, healthy and happy. Laughing. Lots of laughing. Makes everything in my hectic world all that more manageable. Taking my very hardworking husband and girls to Blue Mountain would be an amazing getaway to capture memories of these little things!

I think the absolute best thing a mother can experience is seeing the look of happiness of her kids faces. I love to just watch my kids - digging at the beach, playing at the park, licking an ice cream cone - and you see that look on their face that says "this is the BEST thing ever"! I think it's priceless and adds to all those memories of a happy childhood.

My health and my family, I know its not one... but I couldn't decided?!...

For anyone else hitting Blue, I highly recommend going to the Scandinave Spa - enjoy the Swedish Baths and be rejuveated and ready to spend time with your kids!
Enjoy!

Making childhood memories for your kids is the most rewarding experience for the parent

The little pleasures are when I can make my dh smile and enjoy life more.

My daughters' hugs, kisses, cuddles and giggles mean the most to me, (as do my husband's). We went to Disney World last year and although we had a fantastic time, we realized that you don't need to leave the province to make life long memories. My girls especially could care less about whether the beach is at Centre Island or in Hawaii. Time together means the most and we would love to get away to Blue Mountain to make more special memories.

Ben! The littlest thing in my life that brings me the most pleasure is Ben. As a first time grandmother at 46, I am fully in love with tiny person. All it takes is a little tiny smile and I am over the moon. Seeing him makes everything right in the world! If I was to win I would take Ben and his mom with me so that she could also have a break!

The best things in life are simple and free. I love watching my baby sleep, walking the dog as a family and staying up late in bed with hubby to chat about everything.

When travelling get the best of both worlds by booking a place to stay with a kitchen, rent an apartment or cottage. You can indulge by going out or keep it simple and recharge in your own space too.

just hearing my teenage boys say 'thanks Mom' or 'I love you'.

I find it magical when we run out of steam and just find a shady spot of green anywhere, not care about where a doggie may have peed and just lay down together and watch the sky.
To just stop in the middle of a crazy day or week is just awesome.

The first 1/2 hour of the day before my three teenagers (16 yr old girl - 14 yr old twins boy and girl) wake up and then the first 1/2 hour that they are awake when they forget they are teenagers and behave like they are 6 and 4. It makes my day!

having healthy children... and happy ones too!!

The little things - hmmmm. Good coffee, chocolate with chilies, cuddling with the dog - but, best of all - hugs from my daughter

My simple pleasure is enjoying my morning coffee outside on the patio.....Of course I could go on about the simple pleasures of my children too and the things they do, like making me see things from their view......

The best little things for me now include gardening and baking (and loads of hugs) with my 9 year old granddaughter, playing peek-a-boo with my 1 year old granddaughter and hearing her giggle (also loads of hugs). My 10 year old grandson isn't much of a "hugger", but he likes to have "tea" with me and talk my ear off :o)

Oh, gee, and of course I can't forget my coffee !!! LOL

The little things that mean the most to me are things like eating together as a family of four (My husband, myself and our two sons) whenever possible, having good heart-to-heart talks in the car with each of my sons while driving one of them to their various activities (the fact that they open up during these drives), extended family get togethers, stealing time alone with my elderly Mother and Father and chatting about things that are familiar to only our family, sitting on the couch reading a book and having our dog jump up on the couch beside me and lie with her back against my right thigh, listening to the birds chirping in the morning, so many more little things ....

This is such a great getaway as it's not too far from home -- but it's STILL AWAY FROM HOME!!!! Our family loves mini getaways as it's a time to re-connect. I love the fact that there's kitchen as you don't have to eat out for every meal!

Every so often my spouse will make coffee (for a change!) and bring me a cup. I see it as a treat; it feels so nice to not be the one who makes it. I know it's a "little little thing" but it helps me have a moment in a long day of doing "mommy duties", "wifely duties", "cat duties", "house duties", etc etc etc.....

Looks like a fabulous place to visit! Getting away with my husband and spending alone time means so much to the both of us - even if its going out for a walk just the two of us. Also, watching our kids grow into healthy, well-adjusted, successful adults makes me smile.

I think the little things that mean the most are just the time we find to enjoy family activities together.

The little things that mean so much in my life are eating dinner together as a family whenever possible, sharing an inside joke with my husband of 27 years, heart-to-heart talks with each of my sons while I am driving them to their various activities, alone time with my parents talking about things that are familiar to only the three of us, sitting on the couch reading a favourite book with my dog sleeping beside me with her back pressed up against my right thigh for warmth and so many more little things that mean so much ......

The little things that mean so much to me are when my husband does or says something small and it reminds me both of how much he loves me and how much I love him. The other little things are when I wake up in the morning to a happy puppy licking my face. A little gross, but also irresistible. :)

My baby's smile, my baby wants a little hug from me, mean so much to me! Now being as a mom, I can now truly understand why a smile can mean so much to me!

This looks like it would be a GREAT getaway that the WHOLE family could enjoy!!

teens laughter, doing my nails on my new deck (the one I waited 8 years to be able to afford !) lazing with a crossword, watching flowers bloom, or getting absorbed in an inspiring summer read !

good afternoon..what means most to me are my 3 beautiful children and my family and my pets of course. I cherish all my friends who give me advice, cry with me, laugh with me and just be there for me. I would love to win a getaway for myself and my 3 children since I havent been on vacation in years, since getting hurt on my job, and having to go through a reentry program and now on disability, so funds are not in the cards to have a vacation. I am sure there are so many people out there, that could use a vacation also, so good luck to all but I will keep my fingers crossed....barbara from Cambridge, Ontario...thanku again for offering this getaway

Absolutely, my 2 little ones are what mean the most to me but also my friends and my health and our wonderful memories and all of the wonderful memories to come.

I love the little things! Like putting a bandaid on a miniscule scratch. Reading books on the floor, splashing in rain puddles etc.

the little things that mean so much in my life - my family

...my son, and husband and my mom and step-father. We do everything together. We follow each other every weekend. We follow mom and Steve whereever they choose to go this weekend and next weekend they follow us. We are best friends. My son and his grandparents are soooooo close. And my husband even loves his mother in law lol. Maybe someday we will follow each other to your town. Have a great summer all : )

the little things that mean so much in my life - my family

This place looks fun for all ages! I'd love to share it with the little things in my life, which mean a lot and that is family time. With our busy schedules my favorite time is when everybody is back home and together again.

What a great looking getaway that is. We could really use that around here!

The little things are what life is all about. A hug from grandma, a phone call with my mom, a scribble from my kids, a kiss from my hubby, playing in puddles, letting the kids help me cook dinner, writing a song...so many things that make life rich.

It is the little things in life that make the biggest impact on us.

As a stay at home mom of my 9 year old son the little things happen every day like when my is kind or helpful. It helps me know that the choice of only one income is worth the payout in the end! Of course every day is NOT rainbows and puppy dogs happy sunnyshiney(yep, just made that word up!)but at the end of each day i know our life is better with me being home with our son even if we don't have that second car and all the trappings I'm told we need(Although a trip to collingwood would be nice hint hint!). I know that I(we) are raising a kind, funny, helpful person who is going to pay it forward!

It's actually not so little: sleep! I look forward to a time when I can get some more of it :)

Hmmm ... the little things are:

1) Watching my children sleep and they lie in utter bliss and abandon in their bed/crib and knowing that they are the most beautiful and cherished people in my life.

2) Sharing a stolen kiss or glance with my husband.

3) Going to hot yoga, a run or spinning class when my beautiful children and lovely husband start to grate on me because I am sleep deprived, tired of being in charge and responsible, and feeling like I am losing my self.

4) Returning home after my hot yoga class, a run or spinning and remembering how wonderful and precious my family is to me!

Some little things I love:

1) A hot cup of tea!
2) Smiling at people's babies on the street and having them smile back!
3) Letting people go ahead of me in the check-out line, especially if they have only a few items or if their child is fussy.
4) Walking on the beach at sunrise.
5) Catching my husband's eyes when our daughter is doing something particularly sweet, beautiful, touching, memorable.

The little things that mean so much to me are seeing the smiles on my three boys faces!

The things that mean so much to me is when my whole family are playing on our deck or just relaxing. As long as we are together I am great.

I know that it sounds crazy but one of the little things in life that I enjoy and welcome is when my 15 year old has more than a minute conversation with me..when he shares openly with me instead of attaching to the ipod.
(and I love walking "Junior" in the bush and eating Marble Slab)

I consider my husband and two young children to be the most precious things in my life. I cherish all the moments we get to have together, even the little things, like coming downstairs in the morning to see my 6 year old son lying on the couch, reading.... We love spending time together, just being a family. I would so love to win this 2 night stay at Blue Mountain. I haven't been there since I was a teenager, and I know my kids would love it too.

I cherish my family. Without my husband and my son life wouldn't be the same. So we spend as much time together as possible living new adventures.

The little things?

I guess I couldn't get through life with out my friends. I never really had a "good" friend until recently and I soon realized how important it was to connect with people and share and vent and laugh and love.

One of the other little things I couldn't live without is my friend the pocket rocket......when I don't have time for a massage @ the spa....I grab my "personal massager" and make some me time :)......seriously....I couldn't survive with out it!

Oh and my hubby.....his dances in his underwear, crack me up. And laughter is the key to happiness!

Hands down, LOVE and LAUGHS. My husband, 3 kids and foster dog provide lots of both.
I'm sure we could make lasting memorable moments at Blue Mountain.
Thanks for the opportunity Jen. We love UrbanMoms.

looks fabulous!
of course, the things that mean a lot to me is spending time with my family! And curling up with a good book too!

The little things that are important to me are the small times I get to spend with my children. I value them all.

To me what I value most is the time I spend with my daughter and husband, as a cancer survivor currently in remission I treasure everyday that I spend with them.

Little things...I have four of them and won't get sentimental. It has to be about us sometimes and the little things I find joy in sometimes include remembering that I stashed a bit of dark chocolate deep in a cupboard somewhere in my kitchen and I have some when they are asleep and it is pure and total bliss!! Oh and winning a trip would be a big thing as August this year is not good for me like July wasn't good for you. :(

I love the start of every day. I get up early, sit down with my delicious cup of coffee, read the paper, and listen to the birds sing. This little morning ritual gets my days started beautifully. No rush, no fuss.

This would be wonderful for the kids!

After dinner walks to the park with the kids and husband...nothing better!

Little fingers, toes that grow oh so swiftly. A little getaway to the Blue would do!

My kids - they are not so little anymore, but I would love to have some time to enjoy them while they are young enough to have fun with. This looks like a fantastic place to enjoy some family time. Even if I didn't win, I would certainly show this to hubby to go there!

The little things that mean so much in my life....

- the way my sons eyes light up when he is happy

- the smell of my daughters hair after it is freshly shampooed

- watching her wrap her little hands around her step-daddy's next when she goes to give him a hug

- the sound the love of my life makes as he sits next to me clicking away on his computer

- the big yawn that she makes every night before finally falling asleep

- the sound of laughter that fills the car every morning on the way to school with the kids

- my Starbucks Venti Americano with heavy cream EVERY morning

- the pain I feel in my body after a great workout (crazy I know)

- the smell of my man after a workout...you know that rough tumble smell

- the fact that my kids randomly stop what they are doing to tell me they love me!!

There are so many little things that make my life great! and I am fortunate enough to enjoy them every day!

would love to take my babies away to this beautiful resort!!

The little things that mean so much to me are my son, husband and my friends. Without these great people in my life I don't know how I would get through everything that life throws at me.

I am happy to be part of a loving family and it means so much that I can stay at home and take care of my son while he is growing up. I am enjoying spending summer together with him and we look forward to the weekends when we spend family time together doing simple things.
It would be absolutely awesome to win a vacation as we have not been on on a vacation together in a really long time.

we need a vacation badly. we neber ever can afford ne. we have been through the wringer for years. Little things to me mean taking the kids to Tim Hortons.

I love the little things from my kids, a smile and a hug mean so much.

The little things.... enjoying that hour I get up before my daughter and sip my coffee on the deck and listen to the birds chirping. ........that moment where my little girl just comes up to me out of the blue and says " your the best Mommy in the world"........my husband never forgetting to kiss me before he leaves to work in the morning.

I love a good cup of coffee in the morning. I love to sit outside when it is nice.
I really love it when the dishes are done and I didn't have to do them.
rhondastruthers atyahoo.ca

The way my kids giggle, they way they play together, the way they sleep and eat, their smiles, their tears and the way they try to communicate with eachother (a 4 year old and 1 year old) ... life wouldn't be the same without my kids!

I enjoy the talks with my kids that are not planned. These are the times the little things mean the most. Blue Mtn looks like a great spot for a family getaway.

I love early mornings just before the household gets going for the day. I have a hot coffee and start out at the sky, rain or shine, and know how blessed I am. When everyone in the family and friends are doing good, we have a great home and happy life. The little things like going to the park, a bike ride and stopping for a treat, my is Second Cup, makes each day great!

I am so grateful for my Great all Canadian life in the summer here and the fact I get time with my kids! Its a wonderful country to live in ! We are so blessed to live here even if we only get three good warm months I enjoy every minute of our lovely canuck summer!

Spending family time together away from the house and chores is the most meaningul. I can relate to Blue Mountain as we went there for three days at the beginning of July. We love it there as there is so much to do in each season. I am proud to say that my family hiked up Blue Mountain in almost 40 degree weather. I am so proud of us especially my husband whose only exercise is pushing the remote.

It was the moment when my adopted daughter said 'mama, you are my family.'

My favorite thing to do with my family is go for walks. When we walk together we actually have a conversation without interuptions from the TV, radio, telephone, etc. It's something we can do together no matter where we are and it really helps to bring us together.

The little things I love is watching my daughter sleeping at night and how excited she gets going to camp and dancing her heart out with such passion!

The little things that mean so much to me are things we sometimes take for granted like having someone to wake up beside to, the "I love you's.", and most importantly our health. It is these little things that I value the most in life, because they are the non-physical aspects that keep me glued together.

The little things for me are thank you's, a smile, my kids big brown eyes and laughter on a warm Sunday morning.

when my son says he loves me

The little things that matter most: my son's big smile first thing in the morning, my baby kicking away to start my day, my family's health and happiness, and just spending time together with loved ones.

For me, the most important simple things are easy. Number one, a good simple food like a good plate of spaghetti with some garlic bread and a glass of wine. The other simple thing would have to be gardening. I love putting a single seed in the ground and watching it grow, all by itself. And then when it flowers, amazing!

My husband works 4 hours away during the week and only comes home on weekends. So we really make an effort to enjoy the weekend. We make good food and take the kids out do little things like going to the park and really don't worry about chores and cleaning the house as I do these during the week.

Little things like a picnic in the park, flying a kite on the beach and a car-ride scavenger hunt are what makes summer memorable and brings our family closer together!

Watching my little boy growing and discovering new things! I never imagined being a mom would be so amazing. The sweet little things my husband does for me make life wonderful :) I know it sounds cheesy but if you knew him you would understand!! :)

watching my son play soccer and getting to coach him is a little thing in life that is so important to me

Reading a book together, baking cookies, playing outdoors and walking in a park- these are just a few of the little things that make our family happy.

It would have to be my 2 little boys and my husband that mean the most to me in my life ... they are my everything and I would love to visit Blue Mountain with them!

Little things...hmmm....little things mean so much especially when they come from the heart...like my son providing me with a mothers day breakfast the day before mothers day so we could spend it with just the two of us since we were having overnight guests which would still be in our home on mother's day morning....my husband and kids coming home scratched and dirty after walking through the bushes picking lilacs for me....anything really that my husband and kids do to lessen my load so that we can spend extra family time together

It is so important to find the time to just enjoy family. I find that in the summer there is an increased push to be doing something exciting or adventurous every weekend, and be visiting some member of the family who you do not always see during the rest of the year. But sometimes what you really need is a few solid days with no agenda. Time to see what happens and just enjoy being together. Simple things, but not always easy things.

I think it is the all the little things in your life that once you add them up that make us the happiest. My favourite little things are when my youngest (2yrs) insists on saying goodnight properly to everyone in the house, which includes a kiss on the lips, a hug and a "lubby" (love you). I also love it when I happen to catch my older son explaining things or helping his younger brother do things. Just to hear the caring and confidence in his voice! Obviously our children bring great joy to all our lives but one other thing I really love is when my parents or my inlaws come over and take the kids off my hands for awhile! Nothing like a little mommy-time!! I also love watching my husband play his guitar on a stage, I can see and hear the passion he has for music. Now it would be nice to go to Blue Mountain and enjoy some of the little thing moments!

Well, let me tell you something. Its a bit of a secret

I have children. I'm not married and I would love to be. My guy is kind of a rock star type, 'bad boy' (on the outside)- you know.

I used to get by on the little things, without focusing on the big picture. We're not married, but its a beautiful day. I don't have a ring, but I love my cheap baubles from antique stores. We don't have the same last name, but we haven't been away from each other longer than 2 days.

Little things are nice, yes.

He finally proposed a month ago out of the blue. I not only felt thankful for the little things, because I had been focused on them for so long, but feeling certain I'd be with him for decades now feels like the best little thing to me.

I am always looking for mini getaways like this, that rejuvenate my spirits and keep my children happy.

great fun! Little moments of family fun stay with you forever. I remember my rather large uncle getting stuck in fat mans misery at the caves...30 years ago! love to take the grandkids again!

So many little things: my sons and husband, of course; our lovely dog and her best trick, which is to leap straight up in the air when we say "Boing!"; sharing laughs with my Mom; so many more. And this year, my garden. Sunflowers are seven feet tall, and still growing. Youngest son wanted us to plant "pumpkins for pie"---this is the most amazing experiment ever! Talk about "Day of the Triffids!"

The things that mean so much in my life are my husband and two kids. I am so grateful for our good health and families and friends. It would be great to have a trip away to "Blue Mountain" as it would be a chance for an awesome family time together. Now that the "kids" are almost 24 and 18 there are not too many more opportunities to vacation together before they are off and living on their own.

Blue Mountain looks awesome. It would be a great place for a getaway.

Just to see a smile on my son's face makes a world of difference for me. We have a special needs son and being able to give him things and do things while he is still mobile makes all the difference in the world to my husband and me.

A family getaway to Blue Mountain would a wonderful gift for my family.

Just want to thank you for your site as well as the great contests you are able to give your members.

Beaver Tails??? I feel like i'm missing out on something amazing. Going to need to try one of those.

As for the little things that mean a lot... Simply put - spending time with family doing ANYTHING.

We recently moved a little further away from my parents and its been a hard transition not having those extra people around. You quickly come to realize how much family is worth when they are not there everyday and for me its all the small gestures that mean a lot... like making the 40 minute commute just to have a cup of coffee and see the kids.

In life, we don't often take enough time to appreciate the little things.

Thanks Jen for giving us a reason to reflect and to appreciate the little things.

Monet

The little and most important things in my life is my son and husband. Sadly i wish we could take a family vacation together just once. The past few years my husband an I take separate vacation days during the summer just so that we can spend the summer with our son instead of putting him into camp or day care. This way we get to spend quality days with him...just one @ a time. A normal day for me is get up@ 4am...get ready for work...leave by 6 while everyone is still asleep, work all day come home by 7pm...make dinner...eat...and bedtime by 9. 5 Days a week.Weekends are filled with visiting other family members...i can't even remember when we had alone time for just the 3 of us. This is why what little time i get is so very special to all of us.
A get away to Blue Mountain would be a much required and deserved family getaway. It's the little things in life that make it special...:)
Lena

Hi Jen,

How wonderful of you to share your special family moments with us! It is a great reminder that in our fast-paced lives we should sometimes slow down and savour the riches in our lives. A walk along a beach or simply watching our children having fun are part of those riches... So, thank you!

Gail

Life has a way of blindsiding you. I was blindsided last year. That forced me to look at (and appreciate) all the little things in my life. I realized they are all we really have that make us happy on a continual basis.

Time is the little thing that means so much in my life. There is very little of it, and its very precious when you have it. Time is what makes the other little things in life so great because it gives me a chance to enjoy them with the people I truly love.

The little things that mean so much to me: laughing and having fun with the kids and family, hugs and kisses from the kids and when the kids say thank you or appreciate what you do for them. thanks for the chance to win:)

You are so right when you say the little things are the ones that matter most. Just spending the day with my teens; swimming and laying back with all of us reading on a beautiful summer day. I savour these days as I know they are growing up way to fast,

The little things that mean a lot is the time i get to spend with my family. I work most saturdays throughout the summer. During the week is time with my kiddies. We went out for a special breakfast today just because. One day they might not want to hang out with me, so i have to take full advantage :)
I take so many pictures to remember all our special and everyday events too.

I can't name just 2 little things, but for me, as long as the big things are taken care of; love, healthy and happy family, everything else is an added bonus. A little family vacation would be the icing on the cake.

It looks like a great place. The little things that really matter to me is spending time with my family and having a great time together!!!

Spending time with my family and friends is something that I always cherish! I love throwing parties and having everyone attend for some low-key fun. Thank you for offering this prize!

My little thing is fresh cold water and my grandson's laugh.

Beside spending time with my family, I enjoy taking my dog for walks and play with him. We know of a few hotels that allow small dogs and guide dogs to stay in the room, but I wish there were more hotels that provide this service.

the Little things to me are just spending quality time with my children. Just doing the everyday things together means the world to me

we never went on a trip together cant seem to afford it we have 3 childern and would be awsome to take them away

The little things in life that make me content is just seeing my children happy, relaxed and generally enjoying life!

it's a nice cold bottle of water after a long exhilarating bike ride on a hot summer day!

Friends and family! Without them life is so much better! Would be lost with out them!

the little thing i often take granted are family, they've always stood behind me in times of need

The little thing that means some much to be are a smile and hugs from a child.

spending time with my family!

Hi! I like it when I check on the kids as they sleep and one's got the covers over his head and one has thrown off all of his covers and the third looks like his bed is still made when he slips out of it in the morning. They're all so different.

MY KIDS AND HUSBAND , ALSO OUR NEW PUPPY

We love family vacation resorts

Making family memories is so important. Those are the things that the kids remember. I want to make sure that my kids have as many fun adventures as they can.
This sounds like a great resort!

What means the most to me is being with my kids, and to be able to take them on a vacation would mean so much to me. We haven't been able to go anywhere is a couple years due to costs. Seeing my kids laugh and have fun just makes everything worth it.

I love just living.

I've taken a few fun mini vacations this summer. It's nice just to get away for a few days to enjoy somewhere other than your own city.

The little things i love are the out of the blue i love you's and hugs from my kids and hubby! I never get tired of them and i am always surprised to recieve them. This looks like the perfect getaway by the way!!!

the things that mean the most to me is watching my children laugh and smile when they are happy and also watching their little angelic faces while they sleep, nothing beats the little cherubic face of a sleeping baby.

Playing games with my kids means a lot to me.

What great pics! The little things that mean so much to me in life is being able to wake up and have my family all crawl and bed and be silly cracking jokes and snuggling. Being able to dance in the kitchen with the kids while making pancakes on sundays. Smelling my 4 week olds skin everytime i bring him close to my face. The touch of my boyfriends lips on my forehead before he says I Love You when he takes off for work. :)

Our biggest thing is we sit down to dinner every night together as a family

Waking up everyday and to see what the world has to offer me for that day is enough!! It's definitely true it'll be what you make of it!!! :D:D:D

Having family around and my health. These are actually big things but seem little as they are taken for granted sometimes.

Just spending time with my little ones! Sometimes finding time can be so very difficult, so when we do get a chance, it's the little things that mean so very much, like watching ants crawl across the sidewalk and discussing where they are going and why....lying on the grass staring at clouds and looking for pictures in them....playing in the sandbox and building castles...things like that!

Two years ago the women in our family stayed at Tyrolean cottages and spent an afternoon at Blue Mountain. It was so enjoyable that I would love to spend time there with my family. They would love it as much as I did. We don't get to spend as much time with them as we would like to because of life's demands on our time. To be able to spend an entire weekend with them would be FANTASTIC!!!!!

I'm thankful for my health, my children, my family, free time and so much more. I'm thankful for contests like this and for places like Blue Mountain especially since they are just a short drive away!

When my husband and I head out to do groceries with all our kids in tow (a 13, 11, 9, 5, and 2 year old) I feel so lucky that we can all make the time to just be together...to just do something as simple as shopping for food. We spend hours just talking, shopping, comparing and laughing together... and to me, it's those little moments that warms my heart!

Morning smiles and kisses from my youngest. He is a very happy morning person. He makes me smile and reminds me to be happy with my wonderful family and life and make the most of every second.

I am grateful for seeing another day. A lot of us take life for granted. Being able to see my 4 children grow, accomplish something new, laugh, sleep (that's when it's really quiet), smile, cry sometimes, for one more day is a beautiful thing. I cherish every moment good or bad.
Never been to Blue Mountain but would love to go with my children. I hear it awesome from other people that I know. Hope to be get there soon.

I am looking for something to do this weekend and its funny, but I thought maybe BM wouldn't be good for us because my daughter cant do the rock climbing and mountain bike riding yet, but then when I see your pictures in the pool and beach , it really brings this place alive and I can see her really enjoying the place.

Last time I did stay in this area at a friends cottage in the same area, but it didn't work out for us, because for some reason they didn't want to book the day pass at the pool, and we were bound by feeling guilty if we didn't stick with their schedule. Also she slept in after drinking to much the night before and stuck us to look after her kids!!!! She also told us it was girls night so we can't bring our husbands, so there was no relax moment I can remember. I think she brought us there to be her slaves...hee...hee......

This year I'm going independent!!!

The little things for my family are enjoying a night of popcorn and watching home movies. The kids get a real kick out of their antics of years gone by and we all get a good laugh.

I am always looking for the hidden gems in the Toronto area. I am aware of Blue Mountain but, had no idea it had changed so much from when I was a kid.

Hmmm...the little things in life besides the obvious family is enjoying the quiet moments on my own and looking forward to vacations where we're not distracted by home stuff and can just enjoy the fun times together!

Spending a little family time together. We love having "movie time" together on Saturday nights, snuggling on the couch and munching on popcorn. Those quiet moments with a busy family can mean so much!

A big smile from my son first thing in the morning, or his baby sister kicking her little legs in happiness are the little things that count in my life!

Life is so fast and hectic that before you realize it, your children are not babies anymore. It makes me very happy to spend every evening at the dinner table together enjoying good conversation and a good homecooked meal. To hear voices, opinions and smiles makes it all worthwhile.

life is the single most important thing to me-- the ability to give life and enjoyment of watching it grow.

A simple pleasure for me...is quiet time with a great book!

Just being with my nieces and having them make me laugh with their joy of life is the best of the little things in life for me.

The little things that mean so much are hearing my 2 boys laugh and seeing big smiles on their faces!

The chance to spend time together as a family and enjoy some fun and relaxation is the little thing that means the most to me!

This is awesome. My children are getting older I love to get away with them and have some family time so we can remind one another how important families are. Relaxation means nothing to me. I can do that someday when my children move out. I want to enjoy my family all I can and that means when the two year old gets up and kisses me good morning and I just cant help but kiss her on her sweet little face and love her back. I am right up with her, ready to start my morning her with breakfast and me with a strong cup of coffee. The best time in my life raising two teens and another baby which is my miracle is right up my alley. I know this would be awesome going to a fun place like blue mountain. I say bring on the water parks and rock climbing. They would have a blast. This was a great idea for a contest I wouldn't mind winning!

An I love you from my girls. Now that they are a bit older time together is precious. Little things like that to me count, a hug a smile, a good to see ya mom!

I went for the day during March Break and it seemed nice at the village we had great warm spring weather. My kids wanted too stay but we have a cottage in Tiny Beaches only 45 min. away. The little things that mean a lot in life is spending quality family time with my husband and 2 kids. When you here your kids say I LOVE YOU MOM it just melts my heart away. I thank God for our health and when you have those 2 things material things just don't measure up. Family Love , Peace and Health is what's more important.

The little things that mean so much to me are my little on enad my hubby. Waking up every morning to have her kiss me awake. LOL

The little things that mean a lot are happy times with family and friends at the lake or anywhere we are together. Going for a walk and looking at all the beauty around through the eyes of a child. They are the best reminders that simple things can be the most enjoyable.

Honestly the little things are really the only things that count, no matter how hectic my family is we will always manage to sit down to enjoy dinners every day of the week and breakfast on weekends and I think those are the most precious moments ever!

Thanks!

Just spending time together because we all know how fast the time goes, they grow up and get to busy for us...boohoo Enjoy every minute!!!!

I would love to celebrate my October birthday. Sharing with loved ones makes birthdays special

I love this area of Ontario, my mom was from Collingwood!

the little things that mean the most to me are the memories of summer outings and all outings and the beautiful pictures we take

These days the little things in life mean a lot. When you are struggling for money every week, it seems, all the small things count the most.My husband bringing home beautiful flowers from the grocery store for five bucks, taking my daughter to the park for hours, watching her run through the splash pad. I love watching my husband and daughter walk hand in hand. Its the best sight ever. It's what I've always wanted.I love watching them play together. These are the moments that we treasure for a lifetime. These are the only moments that count.

Of course my family and spending time with them are some of the little things that mean the most too me. Watching my newborn sleep, helping my 2 yr old little girl brush her dolls hair, helping my 10 yr old with his homework or just playing a board game with him. Snuggling up with my husband and watching a movie in bed.... oh and many many more things.

The little things in life that mean so much are when my husband and I make a special effort to have time spent together not only with each other but with our children. Sometimes life can get so hectic but you have to make time to spend with each other and enjoy each others company. That special smile that lights up our childrens' face when we swim together, or just play in the park means the world.

I think most of us take the little things for granted in life until something unexpected happens or we are asked to reflect on what those things are.

To me the little things are being surround by my 5 children and having them fight (yes I know I am crazy) but it is the fact that they are all healthy and able to express what is going on, my husband and having him hold me at night or take my hand when going for a walk.

Being able to pick up the phone and talk to anyone especially my mom and my father.

Having a job that I know will help pay the bills, or allow me to treat my family.

Being able to walk, talk and breathe on my own.

The fact that I can sit here now and write this out.

So much to be thankful for, but most of all I am thankful for life and all the paths that I have taken throughout life although they may not always be the right ones they have made me who I am today, and give me the strength to push through every situation.

The little things that mean a lot to me are my iPhone and a good pair of shoes. So much can be accomplished by just having those around.

Having had my 2nd child 4 months ago, I realize that just getting out of the house is a MAJOR JOY...we don't have a double stroller and my first child is 2 months shy of her 3rd birthday so walking is slow...I try to get outside at least once a day..I tell myself just get out the door for 10 minutes and enjoy the warm weather. There are days when my husband is gone to work before my daughter is awake and home long after she is asleep, and I'm awake breastfeeding at least twice throughout the night with my son...some days I'm just sooo tired all I want is to ignore them and sleep, but every day..I wake up at 7am to the sounds of my daughter calling to tell me she is AWAKE..and seeing her smile and my 4 month old waking to the sound of her voice with a big smile on his face too...makes me smile....and get up to try to make it out the door for another 10 minutes that day!!

spending time doing things with my kids and husband mean so much to me. There never seems to be enough time with them.

It starts off with a good nights sleep. After that I feel like Wonder woman, if only in my own mind. No, I don't get a lot done, but I feel like I could, and don't feel too defeated when I don't. My kids are my Joy, although there are moments, sometimes even hours, where the joy is not as high as winning the lotto....but I know that I have won the lotto. I'm fortunate to have children that are happy (most days) and very healthy and there is not much more one could ask for. Yes, I know a Mercedes in the driveway would be nice, but to be lucky enough to have children who are healthy is worth more than ALL the money in the bank. And then there if of course, the bounty of family and extenda-family who love and adore these two little ones, who have yet to grasp how truly lucky they are.

Ordering out. (ie., not having to cook), reading a good book, and sitting outside on a beautiful sunny day.

Reading a good book & everybody enjoying one another's company in the family.

Barbecuing on a cool summer evening while the kids are having a blast playing in the backyard. Simple, but perfect.

going into my 2 yr olds room when she just wakes up- I love looking at her smiling face and her saying "morning daddy!"

So many little things mean so much in my life like spending time with my hubby and kids, having dinner outdoors in the summer and sipping a glass of wine, enjoying the company of my dogs, reading a good book, enjoying the scents & sights of our backyard & garden, watching the birds take a bath in backyard pond, taking a weekend drive out in the country and exploring shops, markets, & nature trails, going for a bike ride and stopping at a small cafe for lunch, enjoying an ice cream cone, tidying up the house & feeling really good about it... ah the list is endless.

Oh and by the way, Blue Mountain Resort looks like an amazing place! I've never been there so gotta check it out one of these days!

the little things that mean so much to me are out of nowhere kisses from my 3 yr old daughter. I love the affection she gives for no reason other than wanting to do it. spending time with my family is also very important to me :)

The little things that mean the most? Well, spending so much time with my son is the biggest! I love being with him. I'm also loving this great summer we've had...the sun, the heat...it's been great. I love my cats and hearing the birds outside. It's so nice to just sit out on the deck with a mug of tea and a good book. I think I'm easily pleased!

Wow ! I already love this place ! Perfect for a gateway !

I love when the girls play together in the bathtub. It's so cute to watch... but usually I sneak away to watch a movie for 10 minutes while they are playing mermaids.

Curling up on the terrace at sunset with my boyfriend and a glass of wine...

little things that matter the most: random phone chat with my mom, cappuccinos made by my hubby, bedtime stories with my kids and buying myself a pair of shoes! :-)

What a no-stress, fantastic getaway. Getting away from crowds is what it is all about isnt it. The climbing rock wall, pool and beach would keep the kids busy while mom and dad relax with a drink. The room looks very pleasant and the loft makes it fun for the kids.

Love that my teens chat & talk and are happy to share information!

It has been more than forty years since I last visited the Blue Mountain area. I have fond memories and would love to see it now that it is World Class.

My simple pleasures in life are definitely spending time with my family. The time spent together means more than anything. A vacation away together would be great.

The littlest things in life that mean so much to me is family. Being happy together, enjoying little things like bike rides and a game of hide and seek together. My oldest is almost 13, so those little things aren't happening as often as they used to. As he gets older, I'm not as cool as I was before. My husband and I love to take our three kids away for those little getaways. We usually head to Avalanche Bay or GWL. We haven't ventured to Blue Mountain before, it sure does look like fun.

Right now, one of the best little things is when we turn on the radio and all four of the children, right down to the 1 yr old, start dancing - interpretive dancing...and then mommy and daddy join in too!

Little things for me is enjoying some peace and quiet with a good book, outside, enjoying the summer!

The little things in life that mean so much to be are rather simple things that you can do for your loved ones. Despite the fact that they are "little" they do actually mean so much! I consider my husband and four children’s hearts (10 year old and 5 year old TRIPLETS) to be one large basket. That basket wants to be filled and when I shower the basket with many little gifts it overflows and my loved ones are content. It is as simple as that! I feel blessed to wake up every day to a happy, healthy family and would love to whisk them away to spend some much needed quality time together as life is passing by in a blink.

Wow, you hit a vein when you asked for the little things. More often than we will admit, my husband and I realise that we go to so much effort to work and plan to afford the luxuries in life, to get away to the most exotic places we can budget for and to fit in the optimal agenda for the day... and then we turn around, look the kids and realize they're more than happy just having a little simple fun time together, sharing a joke anywhere, out for an adventure on a bike, flipping the pages of a new book together, or snuggling in bed. While the big things in life drive us forward and keep us moving, we need the little things to rein us in, give us a sanity check and enjoy the moment.

my kids saying thank you, a hug from my 15 year old, a phone call from my mom, a good cup of coffee , if i have these little things all else is do able

my family stay close together. my children achieve successfully in academic, able to contribute to society and become independent when they grown up. Ummm, one more thing, but that's a luxury-- be happy.

The little things that matter most have to do with family - my son, husband and our dog too! Watching a movie at home together, going for walks, sharing stories and laughing and going on vacation together all mean the most!

spending time with my family

I am thankful for everything, especially the things that we tend to take for granted. small things like waking up every day, being able to walk, friends and family, excellent health (i.e., no major health conditions), having a job, a home - I could go on and on. In July I broke out in chicken pox - not pretty when you are in your 40s - but boy was I thankful it wasn't anything more life changing!

I love the looks my husband still gives me, even though my belly never got back to its prepregnancy shape. I love walking hand in hand with my 19 month old down the street to a park. She kisses me awake sometimes and is always full of little hugs. I love my home which we just bought.. I love facebook, it reconnected me to several of my foster siblings who I lost touch with but never forgot. I love my weird mess of a family.....whose made up of foster siblings, birth siblings, and extended relatives galore. Oh and I love my irobot vacuum (maybe its not a small thing but in the world of vacuums it is) I call him maximus. He cleans my floors everyday and with a little one who loves the sandbox, has become a lifesaver. I am very greatful for my life...full of challenges but also amazing adventures.

Be happy and don't stress over the little things; learn to let go!
Communicate; we are not all mind readers!

One of my favourite little things that has come to mean so much is hearing my own 2 kids develop their very distinct personalities and senses of humour. Having my three year old say "Mom - are you thinking what I'm thinking?" is just priceless!

Wow - haven't been to Blue Mountain in over 20 years. Curious to see how it's changed, and of course the Water Slides! My son would have a blast at the water park.

Listening to my son play the piano or guitar. Awesome.

I love 15 minutes of quiet time daily (ha ha ha), everyone does something quietly.

Just to sit in the evening on my deck swing and not think about anything that happened during the day.

Want a great family fun adventure. It's amazing to me how little things like when your kids say 'please' and 'thank you' without prompting when you are on vacation/at a restaurant make you feel so happy as a mom.

Your trip to Blue Mountain looked great...it is funny that we typically only think of certain areas by seasons. Blue Mountain for the skiing is great but would not have thought of it for the summer. Little things that mean the most to me: waking up without an alarm clock and looking ahead to a lazy day with my kids; enjoying the sun on my face while I read a good book; an unplanned visit with friends that turns out to be the best time and the most laughs!

I absolutely love it when my daughter and my husband are enjoying a good laugh. To me there is nothing better than hearing people that you love laugh. I would absolutely love to win this, I have only been to Blue Mountain once and it was in the 70's. I am sure a lot has changed over the years, it looks like a great place for a family getaway.

the beautiful sight of nature, fresh air and an abundance of so many things, we are extremely fortunate

What a great trip!

The little things that mean so much to me are:
-small things in a relationship that make me smile
-spending time with my family, even if its doing nothing at all
-photos of good memories
-laughter

The little things that mean so much to me the faces on my family after cooking a good supper, waking up to my husband every morning, and the quality time I get to spend with everyone.

The little things that mean so much to me are my little girls and their sweet ways and my husband's patience!

I would greatly appreciate some silence in my life. Living with three little kids can be mentally draining!

The little things that mean so much to me is my toddler son wrapping his arms around me and giving me a big hug, and my older son finally starting to speak properly after months of expensive speech therapy, using his k and g sounds at the end of words! I can finally understand what he is saying! Hallelulah!

I have 3 teenagers and my middle son is high-functioning autistic, my youngest son is ADD. The little things that mean the most to me is when any of my kids achieve something or learn something new, but I admit, when my middle son makes any sort of breakthrough it gives me an extra boost of that feeling of joy inside where your heart just wants to burst with pride, because I know how hard he has to try and overcome. He can just learn the smallest thing, like a new word, and it makes me so happy!
The other little things that mean so much to me in my life is the time I get to spend on the many lakes and rivers of our beautiful province, doing what I love best, fly fishing, with my best friend and love of my life, my husband, by my side. Every second out there means the world to me. I have arthritis and a bad back, and I can't always fish when I want to, so when I can now, it just means all that much more to me and something I never take for granted. Cheers!

Blue Mountain Resort looks beautiful! My family could sure use a much needed vacation....as I'm sure everyone else's does! Good luck, folks!

Sure looks like a great place to take a relaxing vacation.

The little things that mean the most to me are my 2 little people. Whether it's first words or first steps (both which just happened last week) . Or first sleepovers it's so exciting to watch the world through someone elses EYES!!!

My family is definately the most important thing in my life and a vaca to Blue Mountain would mean getting to spend some quality time with them.

The little things are the best!! You can find little thing that are fun even while doing laundry:)

Looks like you had a lot of fun making memories with your family at Blue Mountain. That's the most important thing to me is making memories with my kids and the best ones sometimes don't cost any money.

Smiles and hugs from my children and grandchildren are big pleasures.

The little things that matters to me include being with my family and spending quality time with them. They are what I cherish the most in my life.

The little things are taking the time to sit down and have dinner together and talking about everyone's day.

I like to hear I love you and thank you when we get back from a trip or something that took a lot of planning or effort. It makes it all worth it

I love hearing my kids telling stories to each other it cracks me up

The little things that matter the most to me:
My son's smile
A perfect cup of coffee
A perfect breeze

The little things that matter? Going to the gym so I don't feel guilty about the lemon squares this family loves; the evening "kiss/hug/high 5" ritual because no matter how the day went, we always reconnect before bedtime; impromptu laughter in the middle of stern admonition; first day of school when I arrive late to work and leave early because being there for my kids is what matters most...

The little things that count for me, my grandsons phoning me because he just wants to talk to me.
The coffee my hubby makes for me every morning
Calm days
wonderful neighbours
fabulous in-laws
I am so very lucky

My 3 kids are what metter to me

Being challenged to a Mario Kart race by my 11 year old; watching my daughter's huge grin at her first riding lesson; curling up after a hectic day with a tea and my children safely tucked up in bed...I could go on.

My wee folk mean the world to me...and I would give my life for them without a thought involved...I love how each of them (and I have 6) are all their own in personality and character...

My oldest daughter, December-Dawn, is a rock...she is solid in all that she does and nothing gets her down cuz she pops right back up again...my oldest son, Kyler, is my angel...he is there when protection is needed...Breanna, the next oldest is my mini~mouth...she is 5' tall and nothing unnerves her...Luckas is my soldier...my paladin...he is always expected to do what is right...Ceillidh...she is my not~quite~right gurl...she is a li'l demanding, always cranky but gives the best hugs and spontaneous "love yous" than any of them...and last, but certainly NOT least, is my Orion...my hunter~god...my comic...my laugh~a~lot dude with the bestest laugh around...

These are my worlds...my reason to breathe...my reason to get up each morning and I do not need anything else...and I cry as I write them cuz they are my moments...my "little" things...my memories and my life~!! xoxo

This morning I received my UrbanMoms enewsletter and saw the title "Who raises a working Mother's Child?" So that caught my eye and I opened up the newsletter and saw "Mom we're bored" because who hasn't heard that and read the above article. For me, it was fitting, as a single Mom who works too many hours and often worries about everyone else raising my children, it IS the little things that matter. After a long day of work, it's knowing that my 13 year old feels comfortable enough to come to me at bedtime to tell me about his worries about starting high school this fall. The feeling of my 8 year old when he wraps his arms around me, telling me he loves me. I've still yet to read the article on "Who raises a working mother's child" but I have a feeling that it is the little things that add up day to day that make a difference in my children lives and in my life.

My motto that incorporates "loving the little things" is to be happy with what you have. I try to pass this onto my children on a daily basis. We live in a world with so many possibilities of things to do and see. We try to concentrate on seeing more of our friends or meeting new people instead of always getting something new. Or my favourite, if we really are bored , maybe we need to find a new way to organize all of the things you already have to make them easier to find....use...on a daily basis.

Hi,

Your vacation sounded fantastic, I would love to go to Blue Mountain, have never been there. But, I haven't gone very far lately due to the recession. My children would love the privicy and the climbing mountain.

It just looks like a great fun vacation I would love to try and enjoy,

Thanks for sharing your memories with us.

As my hubby works crazy hours and we don't really have much 'family time', this would be a great 'exuse' to leave everything behind and spend some quality time with the entire family. It's the little things in life that count but most importantly, time is the most important. We have two little monkeys and they are growing up so quickly and as time goes by (so quickly) it's important to treasure these times as they are young only once and we'll never get that precious time back.

My fav is hearing my son turn to me and say, 'I'm bored' but in fact, having all the books and toys int he house is never good enough as really all he wants is good old family time.

We'd love to win and experience some good old 'family time' at Blue Mountain. We've never been and would love the opportunity to go!

Your vacation sounded amazing!!
I have been to Blue Mountain in the past but always for skiing/snowboarding, never in the summer. It looks like there are alot of fun family things to do. It would be a great getaway for my family and I.

As a single mom and working alot to give my son everything I had growing up, this would be a great place to go together and enjoy quality time together.

Because the little things in life are what matter. When I come home from work stressed out, all it takes is a smile from my son and his amazing laugh to put a smile on my face!!!

I've never been to Blue Mountain, but from your article it looks and sounds amazing! What matter most to me is my family and the times we spend together.

My kids are the reason I get up in the morning - literally and figuratively. I cannot imagine my life without them in it.
Spending time at Blue Mountain with them would be a great way to unwind and enjoy their company. It all goes by so quick - any chance to have them to myself is wonderful.

We have had several family getaways to Blue - it is always fun all year round

I would love to spend more time with my family...my husband works a lot, so to have a weekend getaway to spend time with my loved ones would be a dream come true. We've never been to Blue Mountain...it sounds fabulous!

great way to end the summer

My three children and seven grandchildren are my life and mean the world to me! Life is passing so quickly and quality time, health and family peace have always been my main goals. I haven't been to Blue Mountain in years and this would be a blessing for me to be able to get my family away....even though it might have to be in shifts!!!!

Spending quality time with the family means so much to me. Whether we are hanging out at the park, going for walks in the area, playing soccer in the backyard or just cuddled together infront of the TV for "Movie night", the time we spend together, just the four of us has been priceless. With this economy, we have found awesome ways to enjoy each other this summer without breaking the bank.

When my daughter looks at me and says that I don't look as fat (unfit) as the other parents at the public pool, it suprisingly gave me a little boost even though it means she still considers me fat! It's these little observations she makes everyday that I love.

Set aside time everyday for each other to unwind - this is important that each get time for him / herself, with no disturbance. Moreover, since my parents love to be with my boys so much, I would leave them to sleep over at grandparents place quite often.
