Mom's The Word

The Importance The Girlfriend Getaway

This past weekend some friends and I were fortunate enough to spend a few days just north/west of Toronto outside of the lovely Collingwood, Ontario at the Blue Mountain Resort. We enjoyed meals at Rusty's, Royal Majesty Espresso Bar & Bakery, The Pottery, Café Chartreuse, and 3 Guys and a Stove.

Sipping wine at Rusty's!

We relaxed and rejuvenated with fabulous massages at the Kalola Spa, and had some good, clean (competitive) fun playing mini golf at the new Cascade Putting Course and zooming down the new mountain coaster, Ridge Runner.

Going for the long putt...nope.

But the best part of the weekend for me was not only a little me time, sleeping in and a bed to myself but the camaraderie of time with my friends. I mean, when was the last time I cried at lunch over our wonderful children (don't ask) and only minutes later am laughing SO hard that tears are welling up in my eyes?

What a gift! It is so important not only to have good friends but to take the time to nurture those relationships and enjoy each others' company away from the hustle and bustle of everyday.

And also? This:

love it- beautiful memories and so important, Jen.

Oh, that's the BEST!! I haven't done that since the summer... xox

you are so so right! looks like a great weekend and that view is spectacular. you had me at massage!

I've never been on a girlie getaway. Now I totally know what I'm missing. I think that might make a good new year's resolution.

I love girl getaways…its only with your girls that you can really do the things you love because you all love doing the same things. The husbands are great but really, is their idea of the perfect Saturday browsing in a pottery shop?
