Mom's The Word

When the Kittens are Away...

This is the first year ever that both of my kids are going to sleepover camp. It is year 4 for my son and my daughter's very first time. My son who is almost 13 is there for a month, my daughter who is 9.5 is there for 2 weeks. I am excited for both of them but a little anxious. A month is a loooooong time and my little girl has never been away from me that long.

So, what does a mother do to avoid missing her kiddies too much? Well, she plans a 2 week road trip with her husband, that's what! Yup, you heard me right. When our kids are living it up at camp, we'll be living it up on the road.

Our first stop? Relaxing seaside at The Cape Arundel Inn in Kennebunkport, Maine. Not only is the inn beautiful but the restaurant is rated one of the top spots in the area. Friends of ours told us it is their favourite place for a romantic dinner. Life has been really busy so we could use a little romance. A great start to our couples only vacay!

Can't wait to be sitting here!

Stop two? More seaside adventures at The Port Inn in Portsmouth, New Hampshire where we will see the sites, browse the shops and explore the local history in the Little Harbor on our sea kayak tour at Portsmouth Kayak Adventures

Destination three? We're off to the White Mountains in New Hampshire where we will be enjoying this scenic area from our home base at The Lodge at Jackson Village. We are very much looking forward to oohing and ahhing the scenic mountains while taking a tour to the top of Mt. Washington on the oldest steam powered cog railroad in the United States!

Beautiful covered bridge in Jackson.

After that, we are off to relax on the beach in North Carolina. I LOVE a good road trip! How about you? Are you a road tripper?

Wonderful Jen. YOu are doing the right thing to plan soemthing for the two of you. You were here first.
I love road trips. Love them. Rarely take them though - need to work on that

Yes, "you were here first" and good for you... two whole weeks? I can scarcely dream of such ideas. (Maybe one day.) For now, we don't/haven't really done any, since we have the small ones in the back seat, and everyone knows how *that* can turn out. (Maybe one day.)

Enjoy yourselves! Have a blast!!

Road trips are my fave. AND you're going to my favourite place in the world - Maine. We used to go to Goose Rocks every summer - it's fantastic. Enjoy!!!

I love road trips - taking one with my kiddies to a Kelowna beach-side for a few days this summer and can't wait. Enjoy your well-deserved time off with your hubby!

The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination

Thanks approving to the adept info. Plainly fair-minded wen up! I continually do not mushrooming/groving/escalating on these but desponding you did a fervently buddy-buddy depredate and I’m indubitable some people suavity the less anyway.
