Not So Supermom

I'm Truly Not-So-Supermom

tennis.jpgThe last two weeks have been rough on my family. I have disappeared. Well not really, but kinda.

You are probably curious to know why? so here is the answer: I've been watching the Australian Open.

Many of you probably don't follow tennis. (but if you do please let me know!!)  Absolutely no one I follow on twitter watches tennis either. I seem to be the only tennis junkie out there. Actually that's not  true - I know half a dozen people who follow each tournament just like me!!

I love love  watching this sport and have been watching it faithfully for 20 years. Just as a side note: I don't play!!

My husband points out that I disappear 5 times a year.  For the Australian Open, for the French Open, for Wimbledon, for the U.S. Open and for the Canadian Open.

The good news: we now have PVR (I use it strictly to tape tennis). I work during the day, and come home and kick the kids of the TV so I can watch taped tennis.(that's the not-so-supermom part).

Of course, I always encourage the kids to watch tennis with me. I trained both kids from an early age to know all the major players, to know the rules, to know the tournaments etc - in that respect I have been a good mom. Our daughter even took lessons one year!! (living vicariously thru my daughter perhaps?)

The tournament ended today and I'm not kidding: my family is celebrating!!

As for me...I'm now counting the weeks till the French Open.

ok whats wrong with Wimbledon?!!!!! I cried for Andy, he so wanted it, but he is just not there yet! For me to get up at 8.30am on a sunday is dedication!

I feel like I've been released from bondage . . . TG the Aussie open is over - now I can begin to live again!! I just got back after 3 long weeks in Winnipeg and thanx to tennis couldn't get caught up on all the stuff piled on my desk!

I only have a moment now cause I was supposed to play a match for my team this AM and it is raining.

I saw the tape of the mens final last evening (after refusing to look at a newspaper etc.)
It was unbelievable tennis. Our Ottawa paper confirmed my feeings to-day, but I couldn't
believe the quote of the British press. Are they cruel or what? Awful comments re Murray.
Busy doing what I haven't been doing to-day!!

What wasn't mentioned that "5 times a year" translates to 10 weeks a year... - lol

Hey - so glad to see the hubby adding his 2 cents ! I love tennis as well but since Borg and Connors ...have lost interest :) Actually the Aussie Open was very exciting...now vicky....when do you find time for training !!!!
