I know many of you have been wondering if I have been on vacation this week as I haven't blogged for the entire week. It was really weird for me NOT to be blogging as I have enjoyed the experience of sharing events, stories, recipes etc. with you, more than I would have ever imagined.

However, the reason I didn't blog, is that I have been busy trying to to set up my own website. Yup, that's right: My own website. You will soon find me at www.momwhoruns.com.!!

Yup, it's under construction now, but in no time at all I will be blogging. I can't wait.

I had no idea how much I would enjoy blogging when I first started 10 months. I am really eager to blog again and share more stories with you. Infact I have 3 contests lined up to share with you. (I'm such a contest queen it's not funny).

You have all been so wonderful. I loved receiving your comments and I loved when you told me that you "really enjoyed x blog entry"!! In total I wrote 117 entries with 1903 comments!!

So as you can tell, I'm stoked to be starting this new chapter. So thank you urbanmoms for introducing me to this exciting world, and for the opportunity to meet such great people.

I have made a lot of new friends and it's been an awesome experience.

Hope to see you at www.momwhoruns.com!!

So I did them. (does this suprise you?)

a) Visit the Cutting Veg Farm.

I don't know who introduced me to this website (www.thecuttingveg.com)

but I wish I could remember so I could say thank you. I know that after reading this website I signed up to receive the newsletter and I gotta tell you, I love reading the updates. But I always wanted to visit the farm. TODAY WAS THE DAY.

The farm is a quick 25 minute drive from my house. I swear, it's that close. I was greeted by Daniel Hoffman (the brains and brawn behind the farm) who informed me that I was right on time for a tour. We walked thru various crops and it was awesome to learn about the farm, what is growing, what will be growing, what needs to be weeded, thinned etc. I noshed on a purple green bean or two and was "wowed" by the freshness.

I found out that they harvested 15,000 types of garlic bulbs this year and that there's more than just one variety of garlic. The Cutting Veg farm actually grows over a dozen varieties including Persian, Israeli, German, Salt Spring Island, Korean, and Italian plus more.

I was really happy that I went. But my goal is to take a few kids and actually volunteer one Sunday. If you too are interested in volunteering, visiting, becoming a member or ordering garlic...please visit the website. I have been really lucky over the years to attend the Rogers Cup many times. My love affair with tennis started 19 years ago while watching the quarterfinals that included Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Jim Courier and Michael Chang. It was incredible. They were all rising stars and I was hooked.

I now watch all the majors and when the Rogers Cup arrives in Toronto I try to go three times during the week. Once on Family Day (sometimes with the family, sometimes without), and I attend two matches as well.

This year I went on Sunday to walk the grounds and to watch some practice games. On Monday afternoon, I ONLY went to the practice games. I guess I was distracted and never made it to the main stadium. You can hear the THUD of the tennis balls and you can SEE the balls FLY over the net. It's incredible. It gives you a whole new appreciation for the game.

On Wednesday nite, we scored some tickets and had the opportunity to watch an incredible match between Raphael Nadal and Wawrinka.

But those practice courts really gave me the opportunity to get up close to see Andy Murray and Robin Soderling...with their shirts on!!

I am such a fan that naturally I follow all sorts of tennis related people on twitter and this year I won a contest from Sony Ericsson for two tickets to the Rogers Cup in Montreal to watch the women. Sadly I can't attend but my good friend and her husband are huge fans and will be going in my place. I'm looking forward to reading their tweets.

In the meantime, Im happy to watch the rest of the Rogers Cup on TSN. Tennis Rocks!!

However it was kinda cool seeing Robert Crouse who is a famous movie critic sitting a row a head of me at the Scotiabank Theatre on Monday nite.

I was lucky enough to score a pass to the special screening of Eat, Pray, Love featuring Julia Roberts. I received the ticket as I follow the Windsor Arms hotel (@windsorarms) on twitter. I was going there for drinks one nite and tweeted that she should drop by and say hi. Not only did she drop by but she gave me and my friend a lovely envelope full of goodies including the movie pass.

Guess you want to know..did I like the movie?

I did. But I enjoyed the book better. I think that's the case with most books that make it to the movie theatres. Agree or disagree?

Julia Roberts did a great job portraying Elizabeth Gilbert. Infact the whole movie was well cast.

My biggest complaint was the movie was too long..2 hours and 15 minutes.

My favorite part of the movie: Italy....but then again, I loved that part of the book as well.

(something about all that great food. I guess that doesnt surprise you).

There were a lot of scenes, where characters were crying. Generally I prefer "funny scenes" than crying scenes but then again, the characters were going thru some deep introspection.

The movie also left out a few details i.e how she afforded the trip!!

Overall it was a good portrayal of the book. It wont be winning awards but that's ok it was still a good movie. Not amazing, but good.

I hope you get a chance to see it too, so you can leave me a comment if you liked the movie.

Many people didn't like the book at ALL so I know those people won't be going to see the movie. (you know who you are).

Look forward to reading what RIchard Crouse has to say on Friday!!

See ya at the theatres everyone.

Since January - I have been huffing and puffing regularly at GoodLife Fitness, Absolute Endurance and Douglas Snow Aquatic Centre.

My goal: to complete three sprint triathlons this season. This means the race will consist of a 750 m swim, a 25 km bike ride and a 7 km run.

Naturally I missed out on a whole bunch of races in June/July. But there's still plenty of races in August and September!!

I knew there was a Subaru Niagara Triathlon on Sunday Aug. 8th. So on Friday, I checked the weather and then immediately went to rent a wet suit at Enduro Sport.

This is my teletubby look!! Notice I am pointing at a P3 Cervelo Bike. I dream of this bike but guess what? it will never happen. In the meantime, I like staring at them.

Then on Saturday nite I got everything ready: goggles, helmet, hat, sunscreen, running shoes, bike shoes, sox, water, guu, race belt, towel, watch, and sun glasses.

I set the alarm for 6:45 a.m. which is NOT something I usually do on a Sunday morning.

Got in the car at 7 a.m.

Arrived in Grimsby at 8 a.m...registered, got my chip, my bag of goodies, got my arm and legs marked with my age, and got my bike/equipment ready.

I also bumped into my friends, Karen and Dov and their son, Sam. I am so impressed that this father/son team has started doing triathlons. It's really nice to see.

Then it was time to head to the water. I have only done races in conservation areas before, so swimming in Lake Ontario was new to me.

I was happy - warm, clear water. I wasn't complaining.

The horn went off at 9 a.m.

The swim part was ok - nobody grabbed onto my ankles, or kicked me. My goggles didnt leak and I stayed on course. (which isnt easy to do coz there is no black line at the bottom like in a pool).

The bike course was um, interesting. The website described the hill as a BEAST.

I can think of a few other choice words. LOL.

I walked. Many others walked as well. To be honest, I could barely walk up THE BEAST.

The rest of the course was truly beautiful and going down THE BEAST at 54 km/hour was pretty interesting too.

The run was lovely and flat. Just the way I like it. The houses in Grimsby provided some lovely eye candy and lots of residents pulled out their garden hoses to provide us with a cool spray. Gotta love it.

2 hours and 23 minutes later..DONE.

Felt great. (notice the smile?)

Post race activity: DIRECT to Body Blitz to soak my muscles in a green tea pool, cold plunge pool, eucalyptus sauna, dry sauna and sea salt pool. I have been going to Toronto's Festival of Beer for five years.
I love this Festival. Period.

Why do I like this festival so much? Here's a few reasons:

a) lots of beer

b) great outdoor venue

c) everyone is friendly (maybe the beer helps?)

d) I get to wear my beer glasses.

e) fantastic food.

I have a strategy to attend this festival...which helps me enjoy it.

a) arrive the first day - an hour after the gates open. This means that I typically go on Thursday afternoon around 5:30 p.m. At that hour there's no line ups for anything. For tickets, for beer, for your photo to be taken, etc. How pleasant.

b) try and not drink 3 coffees before you get there as there's only porta-potties on site.

c) take the TTC. It's convenient and it's the right thing to do. Drinking and Driving is not cool.

e) try and taste new beers. That's what it's all about, non?

I had a great time as you can see from the photos. Even if you don't like beer - there's always great music playing, a grilling tent featuring BBQ demonstrations, a giant jenga game, a giant twister game and ARMCHAIR QUARTERBACK that provided a lot of entertainment for many!!

(way to go Budweiser!!)

I also got a chance to say hi to @CreemoreKaren from Creemore Springs Brewery, @Beausalllnatural from Beau's All Natural Brewing Co. I did not blog about it. (Surprise).

When I plunked down my visa to cover the cost of the MacBook and for the cost of the carrying case, I was asked "Would you like One to One Lessons? For $99 you can have as many one to one lessons for a year!!. Each lesson is an hour".

I'm sure there was a delayed response. Freak, I was already shelling out a lot of money!!! Did I REALLY need to spend another $99 for lessons?

I replied "ok..sure". (but with hesitation).

I went home and realized that the MacBook was pretty user friendly. I was feeling pretty good great that I was able to click myself thru the screens and learned quite a bit on my own.

However a month went by, and I realized that I really should learn more. So I went online and clicked away to book an appointment at my local Apple Store at Yorkdale Shopping Centre.

THE ONE to ONE LESSON was brilliant.

SO brilliant that I have now had FOUR One to One lessons.

Each lesson was with a patient staff member who answered any question I had, who walked me thru anything I wanted and were so well trained, it wasn't funny.

Apple Rocks. I am in love with my iPhone and now I'm in love with my MacBook.

Naturally it would only be fitting that I really really really want an iPad.

Wonder how long I can restrain myself. It's been hard. Every time I go into the Apple Store I tell the staff person to make sure I dont leave with an iPad.

Anyone else wanna share their great experiences with Apple?

Initially we received a letter each week i.e one a week for the first three weeks. We were thrilled!!

Then...nada!!

Just a phone call that he broke his retainer AGAIN. i.e for the for second time in 5 weeks.

I swear I write pretty entertaining letters. I sent him the comic section from the Toronto Star, I sent him the latest movie reviews, and my husband even sent him a copy of "Wired". I even wrote on the placemat from our fav. sushi place and the owner wrote him a message on it. (Ichiban Sushi on Spring Garden, in the event you are wondering)

So why doesnt he write? Part of me says "ok he's happy. Otherwise you would hear from him"

Part of me says "he's a 14 year old boy...leave it".

But I miss him and want to hear everything about camp...the canoe trips, the activities he's doings, the friends he's making etc etc.

I talked to another mom the other nite and she said "I hear you. I have the same disease".

I chuckled. It seems like I'm not the only mom with kids at camp who's not receiving any letters.

Not So Supermom is really Not So Happy.

p.s do you think the last part of his letter has something to do with it? (see photo)
