October 15th. That's 59 days away.
That's exactly how many days until my first 5k.
I have been running the C25K program with two friends. We've been cheering each other on, getting each other through the rough patches, giving advice and pushing each other through it the program. We also challenge each other - so when I received this in my inbox I had to act:
BTW...I am registered for Trek or Treat. Did it online. Now it's your turn guys!
A challenge?? Yes it was. I immediately registered for the Trek or Treat night run on October 15 in Oakville.
I can't think of a better run for my first official race (haha..."race"...) It's more like a fun run where there are there are prizes for top finishers but also for best costumes, and best "haunter" on the course. We'll be stopping along the way for pictures and I'm sure our finish time won't be that great.
But my time won't be my priority.
Finishing will be. And having fun will be.
I have 10 days left in the C25K program. I cannot believe I am this far in it. And doing it. And I love it. This program is exactly what I needed to become a runner. I have tried running on my own in the past but this program sets you up for success.
For those runners who run 10k, halfs and marathons - kudos to you! I hope to join your ranks one day! For now I am proud to get through 6 and a half weeks wit only one bad run.
I had a horrible run on Sunday. I hated it. HATED it. Felt crummy. Legs were tired and I just didn't want to be doing it. I remember one of my running-buddies telling me in the beginning that we would never have 2 bad runs in a row, so last night I was hopeful that the run would be better.
And it was. It was my best run so far - I felt great the whole time and could have kept going. Stretching afterward felt amazing and I decided when I got home that I would soak in an epsom salt bath.
I got home at 9pm, gramma (the babysitter) left, and the boys were still up. Ran my bath, dumped in the salt, grabbed my People mag and in I went. I read my magazine for 30 minutes. After about 15 I thought I better go get them ready for bed. But I didn't. I kept soaking. I felt bad. Then that passed. I kept reading. It was such great "me time". They weren't bugging me or each other. I put them to bed eventually.
Oh - and since I have now finished all of the intervals in the program I would like to get a new playlist for my itouch with some good powerful songs to run to.
Any suggestion? What songs do you like to run to?
