The Balancing Act

And I thought I was a multi-tasker!

So yesterday, I'm on my way to Tim Horton's drive-through to pick up lunch for my kids and moi, and en route, I realise that I have no cash! As much as I love Timmy's, it is still SO IRRITATING that they do not take debit or credit cards.  I don't know about you, but it's been ages since I carried much cash around on a daily basis.  So, in a desperate move to feed my hungry kids as soon as possible, I dashed into our local convenience store to use their over-priced bank machine.

We walked in to find the lovely owner, a charming and personable man of Korean origin who is literally there ALL THE TIME, working out in the cereal and canned goods aisle.  I am not joking.  He had a proper step, like the ones they have in step classes, and was doing steps-ups simultaneous to bicep curls with what looked like a 20-pound weight!

OMG!!! I seriously cannot ever make an excuse again about not being able to fit in a workout into my schedule!  I was so motivated by the store owner that I dropped my kids at school and sped to the gym.  As you may recall, yesterday's weather was terrible - cold temperatures with a harsh, brittle rain.

Rainy_day
The kind of day, in my opinion, when one stays in bed with tea and a book.  But no, that stay-in-bed person is in the past!  I was at the gym, watching the coarse rain pour down from the vantage point of the treadmill!  Yayyy!! By the way - this is one of my all time favourite rainy day paintings that I saw FOR REAL  at the Chicago Art Institute a few weeks ago!

GAH! I've been making a list of why I should be made an honorary Canadian and so I've been listing why I heart Canada so much and I forgot to add Timmie's.
There goes my honorary status.
And working out in the store?
I'm doing butt clenches RIGHT. NOW.

I LOVE it! You are so right, Amreen. If that guy can do some steppin' right there in the store I have no excuse. I'm going to do laps around our booth at the Baby and Toddler Show tomorrow ;)

I never carry cash anymore and the only time it is really annoying is when I get my eyebrows done (I actually have a tab going with her because I keep forgetting) and when I want to get something from a vending machine...usually when trying to bribe a child with a treat :P

I LOVE the painting. Love love love! And, go you! Working out RAIN or shine while preggers. I couldn't even MOVE for most of my pregnancy!!!

What? No debit at Timmie's? They have debit at Timmie's in Calgary. Trust me, I know. I've had to pay a $5 service charge for going over my monthly quota of debit transactions because of a number of 75¢ debit transactions at Timmie's (maple dip donuts...my weakness). Must be a backward Ontario thing. I heard you guys have a lot of Mennonites out there...

For the longest time, I carried no cash at all; I used debit and credit cards all the time. I found it kept me away from impulse purchases (like donuts and chocolate bars). But then I hated the bank charges with the debit card, so now, I'm all the way back to cash.

I was just talking to someone at work who was saying she could never fit in a workout and we agreed that just doing the stairs in our building a couple of times of day (4 floors) would be better than nothing!
