I have been on the birth control pill for a decade. Aside from the months I was growing my babies, I was swallowing a single pill every night to keep myself from having too many babies.
But I just got word from the doctor's office that my husband's vasectomy was officially a success and I get to toss my pack of pills for good. I am happy about this: all those synthetic hormones can't have been good for me. But I am a little scared about how it's going to shift the balance of my hormones and moods. Will I get crazy acne again? Will I be a raging menace when PMS strikes? Will I have ridiculously heavy periods? The pill is known for keeping such symptoms at bay so I wonder where I'll be without it.
It will probably take my body a few months to adjust, but are there any of you out there who came off the pill for good after having taken it regularly for many years? What should I expect? Bonus points if you say "weight loss."
