Scents of the Season

Last week, I received an invitation to a preview of a fashion retailer's Spring/Summer line and my first holiday party invite on the very same day. Also on that same day, my daughter wore her winter coat to school, and was skipping around in short sleeves when I picked her up at the end of her day. No wonder we're all suffering from a little seasonal confusion!

My Halloween decorations are all put away, but something my husband tells me that it's too early to pull out the Christmas stuff. I beg to differ (Jen's find of the iPhone app Better Christmas lists tells me the daily countdown to Christmas and we've broken the 40 day mark!), but since the decorations are stuffed so deep in our storage room that I'd probably end up trapped in there like a Chilean miner, I'll wait until he's ready to pull them out.

But I'm a little bummed about this "between season" lack of festivity, and have been looking for a way to cozy up my house without decking the halls and all that jazz. So while I wait for the grinch my husband to catch up to my holiday spirit, I've found a way to sneak a little merry and bright into my house without resorting to chestnuts roasting on an open fire.

Bath and Body Work's wallflowers are fragrance bulbs and diffusers that give off a light scent for 6-8 weeks. You plug the diffuser into an outlet and choose your scented bulb, and voila it's enough scent to cover the boys' hockey equipment odours, but subtle enough that it doesn't scream out at your nose.

tree.jpgThere are wonderful seasonal scents like Evergreen and Twisted Peppermint, but I wanted something that said winter's coming, not Santa's on his way. In the end I chose Snow Apple Mint, which combines fall's favourite fruit, a light hint of peppermint and a rich vanilla bean. My house smells clean, and I managed to sneak a little early holiday decorating in by picking up this cute tree diffuser.

To bring a little seasonal scent into your own home, visit Bath and Body Works now because they've got a great sale going with mix and match wallflowers 4 for $20 or 6 for $25.

I was just thinking this very morning about whether or not to break my hall-decking rule this year... I don't want holiday stuff around until AFTER my birthday, which is November 24th, only because the baby Jesus and I need to have separate celebrations. But I agree - after all the orange stuff and the fall-like arrangements get put away, the house feels so "blah." Le sigh.

Oh I LOVE the wallflowers! I must go get some of the seasonal ones. I've been on a scentsy kick lately so I need to go check out all the new holiday scents. Thanks!

I have Snow Apple Mint in my hallway right now!
I also LOVE Frosted Cranberry! They had a buy 3 get 3 free sake on the signature collections last Thursday only so I went and stocked up one lotions and got some seasonal wallflowers as well!
My house smells like Christmas!

Oh I have to try the Frosted Cranberry. My house always smells like last nights dinner. Can wait to smell Christmas instead of fried onions.
