The Urban Closet

This outfit is actually from last night, but I know you'll forgive the delay. Le sigh. Disco naps are never long enough. (Also, they're pre-makeup... I can't do everything at once, you know.)

I went to a jam-packed, tres swishy soiree at Montreal's Bice restaurant for a magazine launch - Diary of a Social Gal - and all the scenesters were out in droves. The hemlines were short, the heels were stacked, and I'm pretty sure I stroked a chinchilla cape on a lady near the bar. (Well, she touched me first - this short haircut makes people want to pet me, I swear.) Delicious it was - everything, and everyone, oh yes!

I broke out this matte plum sequin skirt again, because if there was ever a time for some shimmer, then this was the night! And I picked up this asymmetrical swinging tank top recently, which is sleeveless on one side, and almost bat-wing on the other. I dressed it up with inexpensive bling, but it's a lightweight knit, so I know I'll rock it over jeans fairly often. You add the glitter in bags, shoes, and lip gloss. People at nighttime parties are kinda like cats - everybody like shiny things. Go get some.

Swing knit tank top - Forever 21, $27.80
sequin skirt - Forever 21, about $25
plum slingbacks - Nine West (ancient)
all the bling - Forever 21, dumb-cheap

can i say the thing I love about your closet is that we can all afford the stuff in it!!!!!!

Thanks, lady! I feel like thats the point - there are PLENTY of places we need to shell out beaucoup monies for stuff we need for our lives, but clothing doesnt have to be one of them - at least not all the time. Id invest in suits and things if I was working outside the house, but for partywear? Im not buying diamonds, you know? And when the trend is over, at these pricepoints, I never feel bad about getting rid of anything.

Im saving my monies for hookers & blow. (Just kidding!!)

;)

sara, i completely agree with you. i get so frustrated by "affordable" magazine spreads...one shirt equals my yearly clothing budget.

heck, tracey, i would pet you, too, in that outfit! im going to guess that you "burned some chicken" last night after you got home? :-)

Julie, I know just what you mean by those "affordable" spreads. They drive me mental.

And sadly, I didnt burn any chicken last night... I need to get to bed earlier if I want any... um... burnt chicken. (Heh.)

*just spend 5 minutes trying to come up with how to make a whistle sound in a comment*

You look divine. So glad you are back!

Youre TOO kind, Jen - thank you. I just havent been shopping much for AGES, but Im not gone... Im just doing laundry. Grumble, grumble... ;)
